I have no words… Usually the saying is you get what you pay for… Not the true with my experience staying with Imperial Motel. I wasn’t expecting a 4 or 5 star stay but for $169.00/night I do expect to fee safe and expect my room to be clean.

I cannot tell you how disappointed we were after driving 5 hours from Vancouver. We decided to stop at Imperial Motel before finishing our road trip to Trail BC. The sheets were dirty and had stains on one of the two queen beds. The only bright spot was the employee who was friendly and attempted to be helpful within his control. We attempted to ask for a partial return on our room as we agreed that we didn’t feel comfortable staying overnight. No surprise – they wouldn’t even give us 10% of our money back.

We took a loss and got the hell out of there. Do not stay at Imperial Motel until they get the cleaning and hygienic standard in line.

A very basic motel. Room smelled of smoke and beds were somewhat hard. No blow dryer in the bathroom. Shower went scalding hot and freezing cold on one occasion. Otherwise quiet and clean and no noise problems! Convenient for a short stay.

We have stayed here several times through at least three owners. We thought it was getting better but our two nights stay recently made us rethink this assumption. The motel is deteriorating and upgrades that were done to the room we last stayed in had a definite DIY disaster feel. The sink backed up a couple of times - major plumbing issues are on the horizon. The furniture is battered and stained. The laminate floor (not a good idea for a motel) was poorly installed and showing considerable wear. Ventilation is poor. The beds were comfortable. I don't think we will be returning.

My wife and I rode into Grand Forks on a motorcycle from Manitoba in July 2020. Upon checking a few motels in town we decided on the Imperial motel and ended up having a real pleasant experience. Rooms were clean comfortable and quiet. The young family from India managing the property were very friendly and accommodating.The young lady was cooking food in the kitchen which smelled delicious and even graciously offered us some to try. We couldnt have found a better place in Grand Forks and felt so welcomed. Totally awesome experience. Great people.

I rescind my previous review. My family and I decided to stop in Grand Forks as a stopover before heading to the USA. We arrived and the initial red flag was an empty parking lot. The owner was indifferent throughout the booking process and struggled to make eye contact. Our room, while consistent with smaller community motels, was rather drab (the photo caption is not an accurate reflection of 90% of the rooms). At about 9:00pm I overheard another couple make a comment to the owner regarding the mold found in their room. This quickly intensified to homophobic slurs and profanity by the hotel owner. The couple asked to leave because they "chose not to like the room". I later saw pictures taken by this couple - mold in every portion of the hotel, dirty unmade sheets and a massive buildup of dust around the washroom fan. The owner continued to swear and yell profanities while my children were trying to sleep. My experience does not appear to be isolated based on other reviews of this motel on other websites. Other reviews indicated the hotel changed ownership in the last year and sadly this was my experience. I intend to escalate my concerns further but please heed my warning...avoid!

Family-run motel. Very cheap if you are in a budget and you'll get the basics. It is conveniently located right on the highway and near amenities if you want to have dinner or do some shopping. The owners are really friendly and have a genuine interest in helping make your stay better, whether by giving you advice on where to go in the town or providing your with what you need for the room -- they a real asset for the motel. The room seems old and has old furniture and the comfier on top had a hole probably from an old cigarette. But in all honesty, the place was clean and considering the price, I can't complain, this is why I give it 5 stars.

Was passing through Grand Forks and show this motel just on the way. Did not check the review before check-in, but new staff and management were friendly. Rooms were clean and overall it was a good stay. May daughter liked the mountain view right from the motel. It is right in the downtown of a small town, restaurants and store are walkable.
