My husband and I just had a lovely evening away at Lakeside Gardens Resort! The owner Mark was very kind and gave us our pick of cabins as he had openings (shoulder season). We chose cabin #7 but would also recommend 6 or 8 for the lakefront access! The cabin itself is definitely small and quite rustic, but we came to enjoy the island and not sit inside all day so it was just fine for us. I would recommend bringing your own pillows and bedding, but other than that it had everything we needed. We enjoyed having a fire lakeside in the evening and strolling through the beautifully maintained gardens on the property. For the price and location, you really can't beat this on the island. We will absolutely be back!

A good friend brought my young children along with her and hers many years ago for a summer vacation. I started coming with the kids our dog and the camper. Over the years while attending every year since I have left the camper and we stay in a cabana. Now we are bringing our grandchildren. I love the rustic, minimalist, zero stress atmosphere. The grounds are beautiful. The lake is amazing. One of my favorite times is slipping out early in the morning for a canoe ride. Blissful! We enjoy relaxing and floating on the lake while watching young children play in the shallow water and build in the sand. We stay for 7-10 days (every year) and take a trip into Ganges to enjoy the Market, local shopping and artisans. On this trip we make a stop at the Fish Market for our annual crab feast. Family, friends, great food....fantastic wine. This is a holiday I look forward to each year...I wouldn't miss it for anything 🙂

This place is amazing it always has good weather when we come. there is a ping pong table and a straight gravel road perfect for playing with your dogs.and it also has a great beach for relaxing in the sun and everyone there is really nice plus for any fisherman there is a dock and giant bass and perch and there is this small island looking area in the middle of the lake and it has millions of leaches. But overall it's a great place to stay a week or so with your friends and family 😁

We were very pleased with our stay at Lakeside! Very well managed by Mark who is always available if something is needed or a helping hand is in order! He also makes sure the facilities are clean and as well as the grounds and maintains the lovely gardens so beautifully! We know Salt Spring well and used to come with our kids and now our kids and grandkids! We have stayed at other places on Salt Spring and have no complaints but this is definitely the kid friendliest place on the island...and so much fun for the adults who accompany them...lol! Our grandkids had such a great time making new friends in a safe environment and we all enjoyed swimming, boating, fishing, etc. The lake is lovely to swim in and the weather superb! The fire pit is a big plus and we roasted marshmallows and made smores every night...so many fond memories! We plan to return next summer...and hopefully many many more to come! Though rustic and quite basic it is paradise to us...

This place is a fave, and I love returning. It's very romantic for couples. Chopping wood, building a fire, and sitting on a blanket lakefront. It is super charming. Don't expect much, and you will be very pleased. It's not about the comforts of the amenities, it's about being immersed in nature, and playing outside like when you were a kid. The cabins are very rustic. Very old. Nothing updated. It's really like camping indoors. If you came to stare at the walls, you will be disappointed. But if you came to enjoy the great outdoors, this the place. The setting and atmosphere are incredible. The cabins are right on the lake. The swimming is very inviting. Warm water in summer. They provide kayaks and paddle boards. Where else can you find a resort like place for $65 a night? The owner is super friendly. The other guests are very laid back. It's a super relaxing, great outdoors holiday. And easy grocery shopping and movie theatre nearby. I think the magic of the place IS the fact that the owner has NOT updated the cabins: it would raise the price, attract a fussier crowd, and not encourage you to be outside as much. This place really makes the whole family want to be outside enjoying the lovely gardens and lake. Who wants to holiday with fussy crowds who are afraid of spiders? This is glamping afterall. I love this place, will keep returning, don't ever change it!

Showed up excited for a little vacation with family. But we were shocked. We had to stay for one night and asked for our money back immediately. To be fair they gave us our money but at 90+ dollars a night this is abhorrent. We were crammed in between the neighbouring cabins like sardines. This place offers little (that’s generous) to no privacy. You can hear everything the other guests are doing and saying and the “amenities” are sad for such a high rate. The “cabin” was dirty and unfinished. The drapes were dusty and the loft bed was covered in graffiti (not photoed) and the cracks in the wood roof were crammed with paper towel. Not to mention the sheets smelled like someone else’s hair, they hadn’t been washed, and the bed itself is a thin piece of foam. The outdoor kitchen boasted a rusty propane stove and the running water for the space was a spout and hose. The “patio” was a clear tarp zip strapped and taped to the frame.

The only redeeming quality was the lake but it’s quickly squashed by close by neighbours and the lack of respite the poorly built lodging offers

Not worth the price when there are gorgeous cabins on the island for rent for a small extra price. Don’t waste your time! Not much more impressive than a campsite at quadruple the price.

I stayed at the resort every summer for years when my children were young. Just got back from a family union held there. Everyone (21 people) enjoyed the resort immensely. It is as cozy, pretty and fun as I remembered. We cooked and ate our meals outdoors, roasted hot-dogs and marshmallows, fished, canoed, and the children loved swimming in the lake. All the fun elements of camping plus the basic comforts of home.
