Ganz spontan haben wir um 10 Uhr noch Plätze für die Tour bekommen und uns sehr gefreut.
Das Boot bietet genug Platz und auch unten werden die Fenster auf gemacht und man kann perfekt vom ganzen Boot aus die Wale sehen. Der Kapitän und seine Crew waren lustig und richtig nett, auch tolle Infos gab es. Anscheinend sucht der Captain am Liebsten nach Orkas und wir fanden auch relativ schnell die erste Gruppe. Es war einmalig schön 🥰 Einen respektvollen Abstand von 100m zum Tier muss eingehalten werden. Zudem haben sie ein Mikrofon unter Wasser und wir durften die Wale sogar einmal hören! Das war unvergesslich. Wir haben auch Seeotter gesehen und am Ufer nach Seelöwen und Adlern Ausschau gehalten. Ich kann die Tour nur empfehlen 👍🏼

My husband and I did an outing with them on July 27. We liked that it was an afternoon tour, and the price was right. We saw at least five resident orcas, two humpbacks, and a whole raft of sea otters! The captain was very friendly and the naturalist, Marieke Knierim, was excellent.

Went on a whale watching trip yesterday - although we have seen wheels in the past; it’s something you have to do on the West Coast!

We saw Orca whales, Minke Whales, Humpbacks, seals, Sea Lions, Eagles, Otters and porpoises….. Of course it would always be nice to be closer however we respect shuffle Animals And distancing!

Although it was raining on and off the scenery is always breathtaking and the company fantastic.

The staff are super knowledgeable, open to answering questions and talking about what they know.

I highly recommend it, bring some snacks and drinks and enjoy the ride!

We booked the whale watching tour well in advance, and after driving many kilometres to get there, we found out from other tourists that the tour had been cancelled. There were two other groups who also didn’t know it had been cancelled, as no one had informed them. When I called to find out what had happened, they told me they had emailed me and all the other customers, but we never received any cancellation notice. The management was truly disappointing.

Marieke and Captain Bill were amazing, so knowledgeable and fun! We saw sea otters, stellar sea lions, humpback whales, an eagle and orcas! Thanks to MacKay Whale Watching, we learned so much about all the marine life we saw and also heard the orcas on the hydrophone. This was definitely my best experience whale watching and I can’t wait to go back! Such a perfect day on the water!

Wat een geweldige ervaring! We hebben veel orka's, bultruggen, zeeleeuwen, otters en een paartje Amerikaanse zeearenden gezien. Dit alles onder de goede begeleiding van kapitein Bill Mackay en zeebiologe Marieke, die heel veel wist te vertrekken over de dieren. Het was een hoogtepunt tijdens onze (nog lopende) wereldreis! Een echte aanrader voor wie kennis wil maken met de prachtige natuur op Vancouver Island.
