We opted for a few items on their small plates to get a taste of different items. It was decent enough; nothing too out of the ordinary. The chicken bites were a bit too crunchy, it seemed overly fried.

We had reservations and ended up arriving a bit earlier than anticipated. We were told our table wouldn’t be ready until our actual reservation time so we had to sit at the bar and wait. Mind you, there were 3 empty tables upon our arrival. Between the time of our early arrival and being seated at the bar for about 10 minutes, said 3 empty tables remained unoccupied. Essentially, we could have been seated at our proper table at the time of our arrival and did not have to sit at the bar. It was not the level of hospitality we were expecting and were sorely disappointed at the attitude received from the hostess who was outwardly annoyed of our early arrival. She didn’t try to accommodate, clearly seeing tables were not in use.

While seated at the bar, we saw 50% of the restaurant clear out, so all standard seating was now available. We were left sitting at the bar and just ordered our food there. We weren’t offered to move to standard seating. Not really attended to as new patrons to this establishment. Not the ideal evening we had wanted.

We would have returned if service was better; but with that kind of experience and lack of hospitality, wouldn’t recommend and wouldn’t return.

The Marilyn salad was one of the best salads we’ve had lately, the mushroom toast was incredible. It’s easy to disappoint me with a mushroom toast but this was fantastic. Our server was a delight and went out of her way to get an answer to a question I had about an ingredient. Wish we lived closer and could come back sooner!

What a beautiful and sweet little pit stop! Popped in on our way through Markdale (such a cute town) and grabbed lattes. It's always worth the extra 5 or 10 minutes to stop somewhere local, and we were not disappointed. All 6 of us got lattes and all 6 were extremely tasty and fueled that last push of our road trip. Thank you!

Sat at the bar and enjoyed the cozy atmosphere. Food was delicious, had the lasagna and my husband had the steak frites. Finished off with tiramisu and rice pudding for dessert. Staff was fantastic, happy that Leslie from Rocklyn B&B recommended it!

Love everything about this place. The atmosphere is peaceful with great music. Staff are so friendly and helpful. And food is perfectly crafted and delicious.
Social more that crispy potatoes are exactly as they ought to be.

What a great experience! Booked a larger than typical table for 8 people on Father’s Day weekend, and had an incredible dinner from start to finish. The variety of local drink options allowed everyone to order to their individual palette. Outside of the engaging, personable and knowledgeable staff, the standout for us was the quality of the food. The team here have clearly spent time and effort to engage some fantastic local farmers and suppliers, and this comes through in their dishes. I’ll be adding this place at the top of my recommended list for the area!

We visited Marilynne after a hike on the Bruce Trail and it was by far one of the top 3 brunches we’ve ever had. We ordered the eggs benny (but subbed the pulled pork for maple bacon), the breakfast skillet, and the strawberry french toast special. Everything was SO flavourful and well-seasoned. I absolutely loved the pickled fennel on top of my breakfast skillet, which added a nice punch of vinegar to cut the richness of the dish. The French toast was perfectly custardy and we heard another woman exclaim it was the best French toast she’s ever had in her life, and we’d have to agree. We grabbed an iced latte to go for our long drive home, and it was also delicious. Service was attentive and very friendly, and the eclectic décor in the restaurant made for a very cozy vibe. We will definitely be back!!
