Our 2 night stay at Danby House was a real treat. Our Host Julia made us feel like we were at home. Julia was very warm and welcoming.
Every morning she served a delicious breakfast including cereal, fruit, eggs, bagels, home made croissants, home made preserves as well as coffee or tea. She was very attentive and made sure you did not leave the table hungry.
We were in the Walker Suite which had it's own private entrance. It was spacious with a king bed (very comfortable), dining table, kitchen area with fridge, freezer as well as coffee maker and also tea available.
Julia was very pro-active and checked regularly to make sure we had everything we needed to make our stay very special.
We would definitely recommend Danby House and when we are back in this area visiting family we will be sure to book her home
She was a real Blessing for us during our stay.
Would give Danby House a 5* rating.

This is a large Victorian era house with ample room for a comfortable stay. The house has been maintained and decorated in the Victorian style. Our host, Mark, made us feel right at home and was most informative about the history of the house and area. The rooms are themed and well sorted to the specific theme. We stayed in the Canadian room. A comfortable bed and very suitable washroom. Breakfast was well prepared and tasty. Outside there are patios and a pool area if you so desired a relaxing swim in the summer.

We are two young professionals who went to Markdale Manor for a short weekend getaway from the city. We were delighted to have our expectations far exceeded by the kind and thoughtful hosts, the beauty of the Victorian rooms, and the comfort and size of the place. We stayed in the Queen Room, which was spacious enough to have a four-poster bed, a shower and bathroom, a tv set, a sitting area, and beautiful tall windows that gave us a nice view of the neighbourhood. Everything was gorgeously decorated and impeccably kept. It was comfortable, and we were quite warm overnight despite the snow that we received in the evening.||||Mark has a lot of knowledge about the house and its many roles over the past 120 years. He and Marie graciously prepared breakfast for us in the morning, and it was delicious (we couldn't get over how tasty that quiche was). The Manor is close to the centre of town and all the amenities you may need, from televisions, hair dryers, an outdoor pool (something to think about when booking a summer trip), parking, and more. It left such an amazing impression on us that we didn't want to leave. I would definitely go back for another relaxing stay where you have no worries in the world.

Markdale Manor was a perfectly charming experience. Mark was a pleasant host and even provided a wonderful history of the manor. The room was spacious and and wonderfully decorated. The bed was comfortable. And the break fast was tasty. We will make it a point to return in the future.

Spent three wonderful nights in the spacious Great Britain room which had the most comfortable king bed on which we've ever slept! The home, which is spotless, and gardens are meticulously cared for and Mark and Marie most accommodating hosts. Breakfasts were delicious! The freshly cut sweet peas from the garden were a lovely touch.

My family spent a truly blissful week at Markdale Manor. The bedrooms were full of character and so very comfortable. The pool and gardens were heavenly for relaxing and the breakfast was delicious! We found the owners to be wonderfully friendly and helpful in regards to informing us of local attractions. We'll definitely be returning and we will be telling our friends about this hidden treasure. Thank you Markdale Manor!

Markdale Manor was the perfect choice for a self-imposed writers retreat. Gorgeous cozy living room with fireplace, delicious breakfasts and what wonderful hosts! My room had beautiful light for working during the day and the bed was ultra comfortable - making for restful nights and productive days. Markdale itself a quaint little town worth a quick jaunt about. I'll definitely be staying there again!

My girlfriend and I had the pleasure of staying at the Markdale Manor last weekend. Mark and Marie were the most lovely hosts and the home is stunning and comfortable just as depicted in the photos. The decor and attention to detail in our room was fabulous. After a fun day of skiing at Blue Mountain it was nice to come back to our beautiful bedroom and relax in our comfy bed and watch Netflix. The next morning Mark and Marie served us a DELICIOUS breakfast. Frittata, with roasted potatoes, fried tomatoes and fresh fruit. After this experience I was sorry to have to leave. We'll definitely be coming back in the summer time!
