Very nice. You do need to take the time to READ. It's much that as ot is artifacts. Àlthough the canoe is impressive. I would like to see updated additional information, regarding the Trapping aspect, and how through modern trapping techniques the beaver population is back and exceeds the decimation of the 1800, 1900s.

Beautiful area, with friendly and informative staff. Gorgeous area and views this time of year. My only criticism is that the walking trails are very rocky with rocks mostly the size of motorcycle helmets littered shoulder to shoulder 90%of the trail. Makes it hard to enjoy the views when you are constantly looking down to prevent a twisted ankle. A bit of trail maintenance would go a long way to enhance the experience.

Very good summary of First Nation and European history of the area. Excellent geological description that culminated in the formation if the Mattawa River. Big focus on the Voyageur life. Free entry. Washrooms in site. Visited June 28/18.

Good displays showing some of the history and historical importance of the region. I wish it had been larger which would have allowed for more depth and broader coverage of first nations history.

I've worked here so perhaps I'm a little biased but there are honestly few spots I would rather spend an afternoon. I encourage you to ask as many questions as you want to the staff there. They're always looking for curious guests. Especially with kids, the staff can cater the experience for their interests and show them things that are of special interest to them without needing to sift through the larger volume of information.

The rangers also know a lot of anecdotes that haven't made it into the permanent exhibit for lack of space. They also know a fair amount about the trails and activities available in the park so you can better plan your stay.

Go up
