We came here in the summer and I would recommend it for any Anne Shirley fans. The carriage ride was peaceful and magical. "Matthew" was easy to chat to and had knowledge of the area and the flowers around.
We had booked a time but it happened to be a busy day and we had to wait a bit longer. But the owners were very sweet and apologetic and offered us some homemade cordial to enjoy. The museum was small but informative and I loved the gift shop.

I was disappointed in the carriage ride I read reviews and saw many were disappointed but decided to try it out anyway. The carriage ride was across the street that I could see from the road the 30 mins doesn’t get you far, the man running the carriage ride was nice but I paid so much money to listen to who lives around the property and it would’ve just been nice to sit in a ride and go further than talk about that. For what you pay for the 30 min ride should not be more than $60! It felt like a joke to be honest but the property was beautiful and yes I knew the tractor pulls the carriage but it lost its beauty being pulled by tractor instead of horses.

We enjoyed "Matthew's" knowledge about the island and bird life and all his observations. We were bitterly disappointed that the carriage was pulled by a lawnmower rather than a horse however, this was our own error! When booking online we didn't notice the photos were not of a horse drawn carriage!! Bring back the horses ? .

Disappointing! The lovely carriage is now pulled by a small tractor rather than horses, which takes away from the authenticity and romance of it. The 30-minute drive involves one loop around a field alongside "the lake of shining waters". The driver stopped the tractor for over 10 minutes to tell us who lived in various properties around the area. The driver didn't seem to know much about Anne of Green Gables at all. The ride through "beautiful flower gardens" is just a short path back around the barn to where the carriage drops you off.
Very disappointing considering we paid $126 (incl tax). Save your money and just walk around the lovely property. There's a small "lake of shining waters" right by the museum.

What a joke. This is no carriage ride. It’s a little lawn mower pull. $200 to be pulled by lawn mower. Just misleading misrepresentation. So very disappointing. Brought my terminally ill mother whose bucket list was to come here. 22 hours of driving to get here and it was awful. Notice what they show online with a horse verses reality. Also want to add miss representation as it says online as handicap accessible three-story house lol again joke on us.

I am very confused on how to rate this. The advertisement is incredibly misleading. This is not horse drawn, a carriage is pulled by a little lawn mower tractor. And for the cost, ($130 for 30min, but really like 20 min because you stop and talk for 10min) this truly felt like such a scam. Matthew was an amazing guy and I appreciate the effort he put in to try and give us info before the ride and in that 10min chat break in between, but I definitely don't recommend.
And then the Green Gables museum is nothing to go crazy about. Honestly the most exciting part of the visit was the gift shop ‍♀️
And if I'm being honest, the only reason we came was for a horse drawn carriage ride, my friends and I have not read the Anne of Gables book and most of the tour chat was about the land marks referred to in the book, which made no sense to us.
I then asked a lady later on in the gift shop if they would be getting any more horses in the future and she said likely not as the heat is too much for them.
I work with horses for a living (and have for the last 12 years) and with an appropriate schedule and swapping between different horses throughout the day, it is more than do able.dont waste your money on the carriage ride.
Do recommend the gift shop lol

We had a great experience at Matthew’s Carriage Ride last Thursday. The driver was friendly and full of stories and the walk on the beach was a nice surprise! Highly recommend.

A nice ride in a carriage around a cornfield. A good view of the ocean and the lake, and the guide was the property owner for the museum, and has a lot of neat stories. It's got a good perspective of the setting for the Green Gables series.
