We loved our tour with Larry. He was funny, knowledgeable and entertaining. Safe driver who showed us beautiful scenery. We covered a lot of historical points of interest. We took the three hour St. JOHNS and Cape Spear tour.
One request I ask the office to change the flyers in the hotels. Showing 65$ a person but in reality it is $70. The booking system was painful when we called the business line. It was impossible to hear her with everyone in the background talking. We finally had to have her tex us some info. Maybe we should have booked online would have been better.
But can’t say enough about Larry. So ask for him if you can.
We made sure he received a big tip for a job well done.

Great day with McCarthy’s on the St John’s/Cape Spear tour! Our host Dave Welshman was super cool, friendly, funny and above all, knowledgeable.

We booked this tour same day by calling and they picked us up from downtown in front of The Jag. The business name is not on the side of the van so make sure you’re going with the right party.
We did a lot of spots - Quidi Vidi, Cape Spear, Petty Harbour, Water Street. Lots of history and culture to be seen and it was beneficial to us to take a tour since we didn’t have car.

My only complaints is than we had a hard set limit at each location which felt rushed. We didn’t have enough time to go into to the Cape Spear lighthouse due to time limits. The tour guide was hard to hear while walking with the group so I think we missed out on some information. My last thing to share is the air conditioner was not used or turned on between spots and a giant wasp was inside at the beginning of the tour. Hoping they clean the vans better so there’s no stings on anyone.

I booked last minute, was waiting for the sun to come out! Loved the personal service from Mr OBrien grabbing us at the hotel and spent a lovely afternoon on the boat with his son Noah as the tour guide. Great day, lots if puffins and other birds. No whales, too early in the season.

I loved the Cape Spear and Old St. John tour that I took with McCarthy’s. Our guide Larry was wonderful. He made the tour interesting and informative. You could telll that he loves his job. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending McCarthy’s to my friends and family if they are planning a vacation in Newfoundland.

My husband and I visited for my graduation this week and we’re only here for 3 full days. If you are looking to get a bunch of city highlights in, with a short amount of time, I highly recommend! Ellis Coles was our tour guide and was full of knowledge on everything NFLD. We were in awe of the beauty this province has to offer. Both the views and the people!
