My husband and I have been going to Melines since dean has owned the lodge. On average we are there about three times a year. We usually stay a week with our kids and grandkids then come back and stay anywhere from a month to a month and a half then come back a few days in the late fall. Dean is always accommodating and very knowledgeable. The cabins are always clean and comfortable. We always bring our own food but dean doesn’t hesitate to invite us to supper with him.
Our fishing experiences on Lake of the Woods could not be better and our whole family has made memories there that will last a lifetime. We can’t forget to mention Betty, she is absolutely a sweetheart! My husband and I truly love them both. P.S. if Dean says the walleyes are biting in the bathtub you better go check Dean is that good of a guide!

Best trip ever! We went to Melines last summer with our family and friends. The cabins were perfect and the fishing was amazing! Dean was an awesome tour guide and great with our kids who really developed a true love for fishing on that vacation. We loved the nightly fish fry's and the great company. Have many wonderful memories and we are definitely booking again this summer!

I’ve been going to Malines for over 15 years now. Great service and excellent cabins. The fishing is out of this world. The owner Dean is awesome. He goes out of his way to make sure everything is perfect for you. Probably spent 100 days over the years out on the lake with them, and it is worth every penny. Lately I have started making it a father sons trip, and my son is in love with the area and the lodge.
This year we are booking the entire place for a week as many of my friends and their families have become regulars.

I am from Europe and have just visited Melines lodge and guide service together with my girl. First time Canada for us. The stay was for a week in one of the good organized and comfortable cabins. Goal was to fish lake of the woods every day. First thing to say was it was a great week. I felt very welcome, Dean and his staff helped us day to day, they acted directly when needed and made plans for the week fishing, despite Dean had a little injury he still did everything needed. Dean took us 2 days guiding and the rest of the days were with the rental boat. I could borrow anything I need without hesitation because I could get limited gear on the flight. Dean is a great guy and I will remember the stay, the fishing, everything. We made memories.
The fishing: we caught walleye, sauger, yellowperch, pike, largemouth bass and.. musky!

I recently stayed at Meline’s Lodge. It was TERRIBLE. I highly don’t recommend going there. The owner was drunk most of our stay. We rented a boat from him that was broken to begin with; he even verbally admitted he hadn’t had his boat out of the water since winter, doing ZERO maintenance on it. He claims he “checks” it after each customer uses it. Clearly not…. When we went to use it, the hull was full of water to the point where it was spilling onto the decking and he told my boyfriend to bail the water out. Then he got my boyfriend to wire in a new bilge pump because he was too sore to bend over to do it himself. After that we had to empty the boat, which was littered with empty beer cans. While on the water we came to find the live-well didn’t work either. Overall such a disappointment, plus it sounded as if the motor was off but he “claimed” the boat was ready to use, again.. clearly it wasn’t…. Only after to have him unprofessionally swear at us through text message; accusing us of breaking his boat, that all those things were working prior to us….. The other thing I wanted to mention was the cabin itself seemed nice, but not very cleanly. We had to re-wash all the kitchenware. There was food still stuck between the spatulas and soiling the utensils. Overall I feel the maintenance of Meline’s has declined to a point where I can see inspectors coming in the near future to shut this place down. The owner has a “If you don’t like it, leave” attitude and was very unapproachable. When I mentioned about the kitchenware, he just coldly looked at me and said, “Do you have a problem with that?” As if I felt comfortable to even answer his statement… My regrets were I didn’t take pictures during our stay to show others what we experienced. I hope this warns others because at the end of our stay he also just took my boyfriends credit card, wrote down all the information and said have a good day. Without giving a receipt or paper trail. We asked him if he had a machine that we could use to process it now so we knew it was all paid for, and so we could have a copy of the receipt for our records. He coldly snapped “oh okay then”. Which he went to his computer and typed in my boyfriends card information manually, charging more than was originally agreed upon. Claiming he forgot we paid a deposit when we originally booked, and said the system was down he would have to reimburse us later, which he never did. Dean is a very unprofessional person that shouldn’t be running a business if he’s going to be treating customers like that.

Just got back from a great trip to Meline's. I've been to a number of other resorts in the area, so what separates Meline's from other Lake of the Woods resorts? First, Owner and Guide Dean is one of the most knowledgeable and capable guides on Lake of the Woods, period. We ALWAYS come home with fish and he has so many "spots" to catch fish you can always be trying something new if you want to. And if you want to hear stories, Dean has tons of them. Second, Meline's has well maintained and large cabins. They did a lot of work on the property during Covid and it is in very good condition. Third, you can drive to Meline's and can walk to a local restaurant or bar, or take a short drive to the grocery store if you forgot something. And last but not least is flexibility. You can dine at the lodge, or bring your own food and cook in your cabin. You can bring your own boat or go out with Dean on a guided trip. Lots of options. Thanks again for the awesome time. Can't wait for the next trip!

Had a great trip with some friends, the cottages were top notch, clean and tidy. The fishing was phenomenal, monster Musky, plus we caught well over 250 plus pickerel in 3 days. Our guide/host/owner Dean is rich in knowledge and WILL PUT YOU ON FISH. From shore lunches to daily routines this was a trip of a lifetime. Booking a fall fish and deer hunt. Highly recommend if you like to catch big fish, having a great time and good laughs.

Meline’s Lodge is amazing!! We decided to have some r&r on our cross country road trip from Ottawa to Vancouver. We thought what’s better than a cabin by a lake for us and our pups? Apparently, nothing; nothing is better than that! We arrived and was greeted with a big smile by the owner Dean who had been out fishing since the wee hours of the morning with some of his other guests. He showed us to our cabin that had a massive bear on the wall and buck to boot. There was a TV with more channels than I can contend with and a balcony with an amazing view of the water along with its own BBQ! The following day we took a canoe out and had a great paddle around the lakes. We saw a couple pelicans and some nice water falls. After that, we went for a hike in the woods and loved it. Most of all, the place was quiet even though we had guests staying in the adjacent cabin. If you’re in the area, give this place a go. You won’t regret it!! Highly recommended.
