They literally got my family booked in with a moments notice which was super nice. Everything was coordinated well. Helicopter flight was amazing. The city tour was also amazing, the tour guide was great with telling us about the history and the way she did it was like a friend was showing us around town not your basic tour guide experience. Definitely would recommend.

We rented winter clothing from backyard and we're very happy about it. The clothes were super warm and turned out absolutely essential for our short trip in Yellowknife. Plus, we were given maps and lots of free advice on where the best spots to find the Aurora are located. Definitely recommend and will call them when back in Yellowknife!

Took my son to Yellowknife for his 15th birthday and we had the absolute pleasure of starting off our trip with a tour from my backyard. They took us to all the historical sites and had a wealth of knowledge, and made sure to ask what we were interested in seeing and adjust the tour accordingly! Had some delicious homemade cookies and wonderful homemade Tea as well! Unfortunately it was not a great night to see the Aurora but they called well in advance and let us know which was so appreciated! Great tour, amazing tour guides, thank you so much!! Yellowknife is amazing!

My wife and I spent 4 days in Yellowknife recently. We booked two nights of Northern Lights viewing, a city tour, and 4 days' worth of winter clothing with My Backyard Tours (MBYT). We could not be happier with the professional and friendly service from MBYT. Amanda and Margaret from MBYT were responsive, professional, and customer-oriented throughout our booking experience. Upon our arrival, they were also prompt to exchange some the clothing for better fitting. The rented winter clothing kept us warm during the day, and especially at night while we were watching the Northern Lights. Jim, the city tour guide, was knowledgeable, and friendly. He catered to our preference as to what we wanted to see. He also made great restaurant recommendations throughout the tour. For each of the two nights of Northern Lights viewing, we had a different photographer guide with us. Both of them were accomplished photographers. They provided a lot of tips and suggestions on how to photograph Northern Lights. They also took pictures of us under the Northern Lights, and the pictures were provided to us later free of charge. The away-from-the-city lake-side cabin was a fabulous setup with home-baked cookie, and hot drinks. We had a fantastic time at Yellowknife, and got to see some great Northern Lights. The great and attentive services from MBYT made our trip all that much more enjoyable!

Great service for winter clothing rental! The fit of my friend's parka wasn't optimal so Amanda came by the next day to our place of stay and exchanged it for a better size. She was super friendly and did not charge us extra when I asked to return my rental earlier. The "outfits" were complete with a jacket, snow pants, heavy duty boots, mitts, hat and neck warmer, glad we had them for our stay. Thanks again Amanda for coming by, it was good to meet you! Will definitely do the tours next time since they were full for the days we were there.

We can highly recommend My Backyard tours! My husband and I rented winter clothing from them for our 5 day stay in Yellowknife. Insulated snow boots, an incredibly warm Canada goose parka, a balaclava, hat and insulated snow pants and insulated gloves/mittens were waiting for us when we arrived at our hotel. When we had a fit issue, Amanda came to our hotel and replaced it making sure we had the right fit to enjoy our stay in the -30 degree weather!
We also want to say what a spectacular City Tour we had with Backyard Tours. Mary was a wonderful guide for the 2 hour tour. She gave us history and background on Yellowknife that developed a deep appreciation, as we drove around in an suv seeing Old Town, Downtown, Slave Lake and other points of interest. She even gave us some great recommendations as to places we would want to spend more time. . My husband and I thought it was a high point and a great way to get oriented to the city!
Thank you Margaret, Mary and Amanda for assuring we had a wonderful stay in Yellowknife and keeping these Southern Californians warm!!

We went Aurora hunting 3 different nights and my backyard tour was the best by far. We went to a cozy cabin on the Ingraham Trail with about 10 other people. Since it was a small group you got to chat with each other. Our hostess was a very wonderful lady who had treats and hot drinks for us. Her guides were very knowledgeable in photography and were a big help to everyone. They also took pictures of each couple or group and than sent it to us. If going to Yellowknife I would highly recommend them. They were wonderful.

Friendly, professional, amazing service. Amanda and Margaret went above and beyond for me and my family during our stay in Yellowknife. Without their help we would have most probably got frostbite! Still waiting for the cookie recipe 🙂 definitely be recommending you to everyone! A big thank you!
