Julian is a great guide. We couldn't see the Aurora on the first day, but he kept hunting for 5 hours. The next day, we were able to see a beautiful Aurora. He also found a very strong Aurora on the way back to my stay place! It was a amazing memory I will never forget. Steven was also a great guide and showed us a wonderful view! Thank you for a wonderful time ?

Aloooha! Some nights to remember, all because to this one-of-a-kind ultimate expert in chasing the Aurora Borealis, his name is Julian from the “Northern Lights Tours Yellowknife, Canada.” Julian was “Da Best”, a great guide, safe driver and was very experienced, knowledgeable, kind, driven and very motivated. He also replies to my messages quickly and precisely! He shares with you his genuine love and passion for the Northern Lights and he provided an amazing information about the Northern Lights, and my favorite part and highlight of this tour besides of course the Aurora Borealis was the hot chocolate and his delicious Maple cookies that he served every night during the tour, and of course everyone’s favorite was the hot chocolate and S’mores at their teepee tent, looking at the bright moon with the lunar halo around it, the milky way, the calming and tranquil sounds of the forest, Hā (means: Breath of Life in Hawaiian.)
Julian was passionate about the Northern Lights and his enthusiasm was contagious, that is why I ended up extending my tour! I originally booked their 3-day Northern Lights Tour+Hotel package, then I ended up chasing the Northern Lights every night with them for 7 or 8 days (I think?) and every single night was a success! He knew the best viewing spots to take us, he will drive us around to many locations, like their teepee, tent, cabin, and lakesides each night to give us the highest chance to see strong Aurora! He took us further than usual in order for us to experience the best views of the Aurora and he will not give up until we see one, even if it takes 7 hours chasing these beautiful Auroras!
You can tell that he is passionate about the northern lights and what he does as his enthusiasm and knowledge is apparent from the outset.
And shortly after the trip Julian will send us the pictures that he took, and they are all fantastic pictures. My Samsung S23 (got frozen) struggled to capture the lights even though they were very clearly visible to the naked eye, so it was a relief to have a pro like Julian taking shots that we could keep. He will also show you how to make the most of your camera no matter what you are shooting with. Amazing excursion!
I really couldn't have picked a better guide, and I was incredibly fortunate to get clear skies and strong solar activity each night of our tour which resulted in some incredible sights.
This trip was phenomenal! This was a once in a lifetime experience that meant a lot and I’m very grateful I booked it through “Northern Lights Tours in Yellowknife”, Julian really did an awesome and fantastic job and couldn't have been a better host and guide. This tour was worth every cent and was the ultimate way to fulfil my Northern Lights dream. Thanks, Julian, for this great experience of a lifetime. Wholeheartedly recommended it 100%! Aloooha!

We had a fantastic time with Julian. We booked three nights since we read that the odds of seeing an aurora would be better that way, and we also booked months in advance knowing that it will be a busy tourist season due to the solar max possibly peaking late this year. Communication was great, especially when there was a potential Air Canada strike around the time we were planning to go; fortunately we were able to make it. Julian took us to lakeside locations where the aurora over the water was just stunning. He also provided great insights into the science behind it all - people were asking him a lot of astronomy-related questions and he was very knowledgeable. He also took us to his camp where there were a couple of heated tents and we still managed to catch the trail end of the aurora of the one we saw before. He also took photos of us with his professional camera (which is waaaay better than our iPhone 11 pro) and totally captured the mood of the evening - those are the ones we uploaded for this review. The ride back and forth was also quite comfortable and warm. Overall, we are thankful to Julian for making our bucket list experience memorable.

I joined the tour with this company last winter and just get a chance to write a review which I wanted to do for a long time 🙂 Me and my friends booked 2 nights of Northern lights tour with Julian and we had both amazing nights! I guess we were lucky enough to saw it dancing over the sky! The lights was incredibly beautiful. However we have to gave Julian a full credit for this experience because of his professionalism and the passion for his work. We saw a Northern lights on the first nights and had the wonderful pictures from Julian (He also send them to us right away on that night!) On the second night was so cloudy.. we almost gave up for it but not Julian he drove and drove us out of town, try his best to find a clear sky for us.. turned out on the second night we saw bisons on the way out of town and happened to be the night that we saw the northern lights dancing over the sky with green, yellow and pink colors! This is an unforgettable experience for us 🙂 Other than Northern lights tour, I also booked snowmobile with Julian. He always make sure that we're comfortable with the machine and safe through the trails and along the tour. Make beginner like me really enjoy the ride! We're honestly having a good time in Yellowknife with Northern Lights Tours company. So, highly recommend this company for anyone who expecting fun, adventurous and a great time like this 🙂

I booked 2 nights aurora hunting tour, our 1st night was cloudy and raining, Julian try his best to find the clear sky, unfortunately we couldn’t see anything but 2 big Bisons. The 2nd night was also cloudy but after almost 2 hours driving we saw a strong massive light, they’re like magical moments which we’re surrounded by green and some pale pink lights dancing in the sky.

Julian is very positive and responsible person. During the tour he took photos with professional cameras for customers and also offered hot chocolate/tea and some cookies.

We went on a three-day aurora tour with Julian and Steve. On the first day, we were not lucky with the weather and were not able to see the aurora, but Julian helped us look for wild animals and we had a great time! On the second day, the aurora was strong but the weather was bad, so they guided us to a place with a little bit of sunshine and we were able to see a wonderful view! The hot chocolate and cookies we had under the big aurora were exceptional. On the third day, it was a clear night with beautiful stars, and they took us into the forest and to the lakeside. It was a cold night, so they were very considerate of the fire and drinks, and also paid attention to the timing of the toilet, which was very helpful.
I'm really glad that I entrusted my stay in Yellowknife to them! Their warm hospitality and cheerfulness tickled my adventurous spirit every day and gave me power. It was a precious time that I will never forget. Thank you so much!!!

Highly recommended! This outfit has their stuff together. You will receive a pickup time confirmation email on the day of the tour, and pickup/dropoff at the hotel was super easy. We actually went out two different nights with Northern Lights Tours. The first night was the spectacular Kp8/G4 night of October 10th with Sheldon. He was so enthusiastic throughout the entire experience, had fantastic communication, and truly delivered an amazing night. It was great that the lights and weather cooperated as well! Our second night out was after the geomagnetic storm, so we knew the experience would not be the same, but nevertheless, our guide that night Julian delivered as well! The clouds were quite finicky, so it did take a bit of time, but just in time before returning to Yellowknife, a beautiful green Aurora popped out of the sky and we were treated to another lovely show. The price for this tour is very reasonable, and if you book two or more nights, they offer a bit of a discount as well. From our experience, if you want to see lights, you should be mobile. Go chase them with Northern Lights Tours rather than sitting stationary in one place for ours on end like some other experiences offered in the Yellowknife area. I would give 10 stars if I could. Thanks guys, maybe we'll see you again during this solar cycle!
