Showed up went to check in the guy at front desk barely speak English didn’t know how to check us in called down someone she took forever to check us in. (We booked two rooms) We were given a wrong room. The guy at the front desk couldn’t do anything for us as there was no double beds in rooms. The maintenance guy was more helpful and moved us rooms and us a pull out couch. The kitchen floor was sticky fridge not plugged in fireplace was broken, toilet moved. I asked for pillows for the pull out couch as we got sheets the front desk guy just told us to go into the laundry room and get it ourselves. There was no pillows so he had to ask the housekeepers for where they were. The maintenance guy told us where we could find him if we needed anything else he found us pillows. The other room we got the front light was out only one towel needed more fireplace was broken as well. Just not worth the money we put out for our rooms or the service we got. It was a place to sleep I guess. Not impressed at all didn’t get a refund for messing up our room or anything. Just glad the maintenance guy was very helpful.

I’m giving a great review because the Nova Inn really came through for us. We got stranded in Inuvik waiting for a flight out, the manager at the desk was incredibly accommodating and made us feel at home while we were really going through it.

This won’t be the fanciest place you’ve ever stayed, but they gave us a good roof over our head, a decent bed to sleep in a clean room and simple breakfast in the morning. When staying somewhere like Inuvik, this is all I could have ever asked for and therefore they get a glowing review from me.

Thank you Nova Inn!

This place is awful in every way. It still allows smoking in some rooms and the entire hotel reeks of it. The entire place is filthy.||I had read the reviews from previous posters (most from earlier than 2023) and it didn’t seem too terrible so I booked a room for two nights in August, 2024. After driving the Dempster all day we arrived at Nova only to be told by the front desk clerk that “online bookings don’t show up in our system” and that they were completely booked. The front desk clerk had no idea how to work their reservation system and could barely speak or understand English.||The gentlemen who came in behind me was told the same thing as he had also booked online. Imagine travelling from miles and miles away only to be told that a reservation that you had a confirmation number for didn’t exist and you were now without a place to stay. ||Luckily we were able to secure the last hotel room at the Mackenzie hotel. THEIR staff were amazing and happy to help us. Definitely stay at the Mackenzie. It’s the only place worth staying at in Inuvik!

We stayed for two nights in August. The front desk could not find our reservation, but accommodated us anyway. There was no power in the room and no A/C, and the room was cooking hot. Got another room on same floor. Also hot, did have power, and A/C unit just acted as a fan. One set of towels. No making up of room ( only done every second day ). Indolent, uninterested staff. The place needs new management and staff. Pretty run down at present. Go elsewhere

We have stayed here two times in the last week. At check in the hotel told me they did not have my booking. We booked with Bring Fido/Booking.com. I had a print out of the reservation with confirmation numbers. They also did not have my next booking. I was told the hotel was full. They attempted to try to call other hotels but could not because no one else in Inuvik could accommodate our dogs. They did finally find us a room at the Nova Hotel. Now about the hotel: old, needs much repair, smells, dirty, things broken (portable ac units coming out of wall, old school wall unit ac switches off wall and wires sticking out, curtains falling down, toilet not working, tv’s not working, breakfast, at best poor, contact number at the front desk not operating). The staff- usually no one is at the front desk. We walked in to the hotel mid day to confirm our room for the following day, a Tuesday, no one around, a ghost town. Please do not go to this hotel unless you have to; if you are traveling with pets. This is by far the grossest hotel I have ever stayed in. Nova Hotels should be ashamed of their hotel brand for allowing this to be a product of their company.

Unprofessional staff, room was not clean, washroom was not clean. Absolutely unacceptable to pay 200CAD for a dirty room. Found multiple people's hair everywhere, toilet with pee on the seat, just disgusting. After reading other reviews I didn't bother to ask for another room.

The owner has been replying to similar reviews thanking for the feedback and saying that they will improve, for the last five years and still the same, come on. Avoid this place if you have another option or even camping might be a better option.
