On y était pour une nuit. C'était pas mal, un peu cher pour ce que c'était.

This is a nice beach motel. Rooms are small but clean and cozy. Best bed we had on our one week trip along Vancouver Island! Great property with private grassed area with lots of outdoor seating and direct access to the beach. We had a beach view room with sliding door. Nothing beats falling asleep to the sound of waves. The location is good as it’s right off Island Highway and not too far from the turn off to highway 19. A short drive to Campbell River. Stunning view across the Strait to the Coastal Mountain range. Prices are very reasonable. There isn’t a restaurant or cafe within walking distance but the coffee provided in the lobby is amazing. Would stay here again. The wellness retreats sound amazing.

Excellent WiFi, Desk lady was courteous and helpful with the answers to my questions. Room was clean, water was hot, upgraded enough to pull it out of the 70's exterior. I loved it. The porch swing at the gentle hill over the beach, watching seals eat Salmon they didn't have to pay for! Old wooden framing, so don't be surprised if you are on the bottom level and can hear someone overhead moving around. I would definitely stay there again. One thing, 24 hour coffee in the lobby, but it's old school and you have to do it, carafe style. Bring your own instant. A K Cup Machine in the room would help.

Well I'm typically a very harsh critic, but I absolutely loved this place. So many details to rave about, the staff, the clean and bright rooms, the rock labyrinth, the steam room, the details that make you feel special (like the Traditional Medicinals tea in room), adorable gift shop and common area with board games, the bench swing at the beach. And of course, it's directly on the beach with a lovely courtyard between. The price was lower than all the boring chains that don't really care. Both my husband and I were positively baffled and in love. Will be back every anniversary.

An amazing place to stay.
Got in last minute, they managed to get me a ground floor so I could push my bike to the door and unload right into the room. Nice and quiet place too, great staff, and right on the ocean.
Thank you!

I love staying at the Ocean Resort. The rooms are clean and comfortable. It has an 'at home' atmosphere. The staff are friendly and helpful. Sitting at the edge of the water gazing out to the ocean is a wonderful experience.

We were very disappointed and unhappy with our stay at this hotel. We do not recommend it, primarily due to the poor management.

They advertise as pet-friendly, so our family of four paid the required fee for our 3 kg Pomchi. She's a well-behaved little dog who only barks briefly when disturbed (e.g., someone knocking at the door). The hotel requires guests with pets to stay on the first floor, which we accepted without issue.

On our first night, someone knocked on our door, and we were told there had been complaints about our dog barking. At that moment, she barked briefly in response to the knock—completely normal behavior for a dog, especially at that late hour.

The second day, we went out for a few hours for whale watching. Since it was a warm day, we couldn’t leave our dog in the car, so we left her safely in the room. We had paid the pet fee and expected this would be acceptable. However, management called us, suggesting we move to a different room because we left the dog "unattended" and she barked when people knocked. Really? We paid for the room and the pet fee, and now we're being told we can't leave the dog there?

They claimed the new room was an "upgrade"—but it smelled of mold, had only one queen bed for four people, and a sofa. That’s not an upgrade—it's an insult.

Other problems during our stay:

The key cards kept deactivating—apparently due to their outdated system.

No coffee available in the morning, and no one on staff knew how to make it. My daughter tried and burned her finger in the process.

No mugs provided if you wanted to make tea.

Overall, this was a frustrating and disappointing experience. The hotel is not truly pet-friendly, and the management's handling of issues was unprofessional. We would not stay here again.
