Ontario Trails Council was instrumental in the creation of multi use horse trails in over the years. Their Education program to trail builders and municipalities has created a level playing field for all trail users.
The education about meeting a horse on a trail was ground breaking information and the horse community is greatly appreciative of all their hard work over the years. I am sure without the OTC's work on the Trail Strategy for over 10 years we would still be in the dark ages concerning trails.
The website lists trails for the whole family activities which is fantastic!!

Andrea and I (Hap Wilson) of Ecotrailbuilders Inc. have been a long-standing member of OTC and for many good reasons. As an established trail-building company, we often subscribe to OTC newsletters, features and comments from a growing trail community, in order to stay current with industry trends, technology and social landscapes. In particular, Patrick has been a great personal resource for us whenever we need sage advice - OTC is the conduit joining our field work projects and issues with the bureaucracy or government, primarily through shared voices present only with OTC.

I appreciate the work the Council is doing: letting you know where there is a place and where one can park. If some info is missing - I can do more research or just not go there. Or I can make it an adventure and find out for myself on the ground

The website is so incredibly hard to use. No real usable maps. Often just one individual address for whole trails.
I end up so frustrated every time I try and look up trails.
I don't really understand why it's so hard to have a Google map marked with a trail. But apparently it is very hard. I tried looking up the Trans Canada trail and I couldn't find anything more than a restaurant menu map. I think they actually don't want people to hike trails.
