I had a short stop for a couple of nights at The Outpost in 2021 on a motorcycle trip down Hwy. 129. I was lucky to get a spot in cozy Cabin 1, but that was because there was a hurricane that had blown through and knocked out power, so there was a vacancy. We were supplied generators, but I loved just sitting back on the patio overlooking the beautiful lake, barbequeing a steak and enjoying the wonderful setting. Jim and Anne were wonderful hosts and genuinely took an interest in my comfort there, and I just loved the unique setting and history of the whole place. I loved it so much, I've scheduled another stop this year in July. Can't wait to get there, and this time I hope to enjoy their breakfast and other meals in the main lodge.

We stayed at cottage 1 facing the lake, rooms were clean and had everything we needed. Owner Jim taught me and my husband how to drive a motor boat and let us use the canoe for free. He also took us to nearby lake to do walleye fishing, which was a lot of fun. The dinner was also delicious, a balance of meat and veggies. We enjoyed our comfortable stay and will definitely visit again!

This is wonderful,quaint cottages, flush toilets, lots of electric outlets. Great veiw, great beach great fishing. Lodge is a step back in time. Live in chef -excellent owners are right there all the time, ready to help you or provide you with anything you might need

Wow. The Outpost makes me want to move to Canada. It's pristine lakes and landscape are breathtaking. Ann and Jim were the best. We went for the fishing. We hadnt fished before so were teying new things. We caught small mouth bass the entire time we were there. The fish were healthy and without grubs or parasites. The fishing was not only beautiful but exciting. The outpost did not dissapoint with fishing and we were very new to how to fish. Jim taught us how to filet our fish and now we can do it ourselves. Ask for the binder of sightseeing in the area and don't sleep on visiting the falls or the mine. We found some copper quartz and at the candy mountian we found amathyst. The fishing boat if you rent comes with the motor and life jackets with ores. Jim will show you how to operate. Their are canoes...rafts...kayaks and I saw many kid floaters and toys. The water quality is impeccable and not even the great lakes can compare. This was the best placed we have stayed and we travel alot. The outpost will see us again. We have never done the same thing twice but the outpost will be different. We will be back !

Jim, Anne and Jamie made me feel home from the first minute I arrived for three-nights fishing holiday. Fishing was Fun! Wish the holiday lasted longer! There are lots to explore around: Aubrey Falls (is a MUST to visit), Rocky Candy Mountain Hike with magnificent views, The Jacuzzi, Pig Pen Chute, Grindstone Creek trail, Mississagi River Canoe trip...hikers paradise! Every morning we had different menu breakfast, boxed lunch and dinner. Jim is great chef to bake a walleye the way I asked! It was delicious!

The outpost Lodge is a fantastic place to visit, Jim and Anne and Jamie treat us like family. Great fishing and great cabin to stay in. The dinners and breakfast are unbelievable. Definitely will be coming back for a third time and hopefully many more!||Fran.

In July of 2019 my partner and I did a 4-week tour of northern Ontario. One of the few gems we stumbled across was the Outpost Lodge, run by Jim and Ann Kehoe. It offers everything true cottage-country fans could wish for: a tastefully decorated, well-equipped and setting-appropriate cottage nestled in it natural setting. This and the handful of other cottages are complemented by the magnificently charming wooden main lodge, where wonderful home-cooked breakfasts and dinners are served to guests, with a packed lunch offered to those wishing to spend the day on the lakes and rivers or hiking through the forests. There's wonderful swimming, kayaking, boating and fishing to be had and endless possibilities for outdoor adventure. The owners and their sons are friendly and accomodating and the whole experience is of great value for the money. I sincerely recommend Jim and Anne's wonderful place for those looking to get a taste of real cottage country.||Andy and Klara
