This doctor really surprised me. I felt I'd won the lottery getting onto this doctor's roster almost 3yrs ago. His behavior was inexcusable, unprofessional and completely unpredictable. Had he apologized for his outburst, I would not be sharing this review. In Nov./24 He took the personal liberty to raise his voice and chastise me for taking my child from school for a therapist appt to manage stress, bullying exclusion, resulting in thoughts of not wanting to be born, and wanting another life. Even though I told him (which was none of his business in the first place) that my child has near perfect attendance... she's rarely even ever sick. He also knew she was struggling with anxiety from mishandled issues at school, as he had been consulted on several occasions for her night terrors screaming about 'kids in the gym'.
I was on a medical leave at this of his outburst time, which he questioned why either of us were receiving therapy. It was bizarre and dehumanizing, as he was aware of the stress, anxiety and sleepless nights I was experiencing, which he previously supported due to the ongoing stress of both advocating for my child, and the bizarre circumstances I was experiencing with this school board.
This man half my age, lectured, questioned (at least 20-30 mins)and humiliated me in the presence of two secretaries, interns, NP, nurse and patients. I came out of his office in obvious distress. It has taken me this long to process the shock of that experience.
After my lovely, sweet and grounded doctor of 35 yrs retired, and being without a doctor for two years, I truly thought this doctor would be my last...I treated him with nothing less than kindness, admiration and respect....he presented as attentive and intelligent...however, whatever his personal investment was in my dilemma/struggles, he let it get the best of him...I may never know why he was triggered by my personal situation, but what I do know, his moral compass was thrown off it's axis. Mental health seemed to be an obscure idea. To say I still reflect on that day with anxiety, confusion and humiliation is an understatement.
I did fire this doctor the next day. Allowing grown men speak to me and regard my child with such disrespect, disregard and arrogance is not an option. I would rather be without a doctor, and learn his true nature now rather than later, than to be at this individual's mercy. Disgraceful.

His staff were ALL wonderful, friendly and professional people. 💖🙏 This review does not reflect them at all.

When I spoke with Strathroy Thames Valley the main office, who oversees his practice offering to forward my email terminating this doctor with full disclosure, they inquired whether I wanted to file a formal complaint. Filing formal complaints seem moot these days (they end up at the bottom of someone's priority list, buried in cyberspace aka ignored) nor did I have the energy at that time.
My intuition has been pulling me to this review for the past week. I've blocked the incident for the most part until recently. It was traumatic.

The care my family and I received from Dr. Olmstead was exceptional. He listened attentively to our concerns and provided personalized treatment that yielded positive results. The entire team at the clinic displayed a high level of professionalism and made us feel comfortable throughout our visit.
