A lot of bad reviews on this place and for very good reason!!!! Discrimination is high with this lady. I have a friend staying there for a week that just came out of hospital from bad car accident. when visiting after work she wanted to charge me money for going in to the room. Super weird that you can not have a visitor for a couple of hours without paying 10$ per visit( not overnight or all day). Had to show her proof of my residence, which is in GP and she informed me I was only to be outside while visiting...Language barrier is very high and this place deserves a zero rating IMO

I had a very good experience at this hotel. Very kind, helpful hotel manager who takes great care of the hotel and her customers. Delicious korean food, which delivers to your room upon ordering. Wifi, big tv with live tv channels, a/c, and newly renovated.

The innkeepers act clearly says to be An Inn you must accept all patrons that are sober and able to pay, this location thinks it's ok to deny services because they don't like the city on my driver's license, awesome way to treat a local who's having an emergency and needs somewhere to stay. Clear discrimination based on where I live and a violation of the innkeepers act.

Booked a disability room. Informed them I have a registered service dog. Got to the inn. Informed the women who hardly spoke English that I had a service dog, they took my payment and gave me a room on the second floor with stairs. After struggling to my room and finally being able to lay my head down she starts beating on my dog telling me I have to leave because she can not allow my dog. I informed her he was a service dog not a pet provided all required papers and was still kicked out after being there 5 minutes. I requested a refund to which I was denied she informed me dogs are food not medical help. She also told the RCMP the same thing. This lady is absolutely disgusting. This is Canada we don’t eat our pets. I have contacted a lawyer and will be taking further actions. This is NOT ok. Room stunk but was fairly clean. Bathroom had no Toilet paper, Worst place I’ve ever said. Save yourself some trouble and don’t go here. She hates white people and was very racist to me.

The quality of the rooms was not bad at all. Customer service was average for most of the trip. However at the end of my trip I was told by the older lady that works the front desk that they found used needles in my clogged toilet, and I would need to pay $300 for the labour it takes to fix it. I found this to be absurd so I tried to sort it out. I asked if I looked like a drug addict to her, to which she responded: “Yes, yes.” After continuing to try and de-escalate the situation she switched to accusing my little brother of flushing the needles instead, he was staying two rooms over and barely used my room. I’m not one to leave reviews but this situation feels insane. The younger guy who works the front desk is very nice and informative for what that’s worth. Only issues with the rooms is they are quite cold and the shower curtain lets quite a lot of water leak out to the floor.

Overall, the rooms will likely be the nicest you’ll find in GP at this rate, however I don’t think they’re nice enough to justify the aggressive accusations I received from the staff. As other reviewers have said these random charges/accusations seem to be quite common from them, they also come off VERY judgmental and unprofessional in the replies under reviews, I would implore anyone considering staying here to read those first. stay at your own risk. 🙂

Renovations were obviously done in my room, but it was other things that irritated me to the point where I had to write a review as well as take pictures to show you what I mean. Although it looks good "lipstick on a pig", there were underlying shortcomings that still makes it a "pig"!| |1.) I ordered a room through an online booking service. The cost was about $73 and when I got there, the elderly gentlemen said that it would be $80. First strike for me!||2.) 1 small package of soap so if I wanted to wash my hands and use that soap to take a shower, I would have to transfer it back and forth. I've been to less expensive places and they don't cheap out on you as they provide 2 small bars of soap. 2nd strike!||3.) The first motel / hotel / inn that I've EVER been to that didn't have a swipe key card. You had to lock the door and use an old school key to open it. This was obviously a cost saving measure. 3rd strike!||4.) Nothing to hang towels INSIDE the bathroom (see pictures). I had to place mine on top of the toilet. 4th strike!||5.) Slow Internet connection. The owner must opted for the budget option. 5th strike!||6.) Odd setup for the bedside lamps. They were foot or push pedals to activate and turn off the lights. The extension cords were right above your head hanging off the corner of the headboard (see pictures). I didn't feel comfortable sleeping with an extension cord hanging so close to my head. 6th strike! ||7.) 3 rolls of toilet paper available to you. This isn't necessarily a strike, but based on my impression of the owner of this place, this was obviously a mistake because you want to provide the customer the absolute bare minimum to maximize profits right?! I would have gladly traded in a roll of toilet paper for another small bar of soap. ||8.) There were 2 soy sauce sized conditioning shampoo packages (see pictures). Can it get any smaller? Once again, I've never seen this before! 7th strike!||There are plenty of motels / inns / hotels in Grande Prairie competing for your hard earned money and there are a few, that I've personally stayed in, that have more value for money in that it offers more and costs less. This was my first time at Parkside Inn and it will definitely be the last.

The rooms have been obviously updated with wood paneling, rustic lights, and shockingly, comfortable beds. Yeah, I've had beds in rooms three times more expensive that were less comfortable. My wife even admired the room's decor, saying she wishes our bedroom looked like this. The owner was super nice and was always with smiles.

The area around the hotel isn't that great, mind you. Nearby shops are boarded up and there is a pile of garbage outside the facility, making this place a true to the word diamond in the rough.

But let me say this, being far from those damn train tracks was a godsend; I slept through the night without a peep from neighbors or traffic. Fairly certain I wouldn't get that from the Sandman.

Ultimately, Parkside was WAY better than I was expecting and it's insanely inexpensive. We wanted a quiet bed, and we got it; if that's all you need, Parkside is the place.
