Out words cannot fully describe our 5 day Cabana Desolation Sound adventure so I will summarise…. location = stunning. Guides Keigan and Abbey = professional/efficient/knowledgeable/fun/friendly/hardworking/happy. Accommodation and food = comfortable, quality, well designed wilderness style, outstanding food, every meal and snack was lovingly made and presented by Fazal, a food magician!! We were treated to many days of adventures from touring the coves, shores and forests too collecting and cooking the best oysters anywhere in the world.. The wildlife was incredible. We were treated to Orcas, humpback whales, porpoises, seals, sea stars, Bald eagles, and many other species. We would highly recommend this tour and company. Thanks Matt and Jo. uk

We loved our stay at Powell River Sea Kayak’s Cabana Desolation Eco Resort for a guided sea kayak trip in June 2025.
We stayed for eight days in 2015 during which we improved our very limited sea kayaking skills and gained the confidence to go on longer kayaking camping adventures. We always wanted to return to this beautiful area so this time we came with our adult daughter for a four day trip.
Our guide was great. The day trips we took were tailored for our abilities and how long we wanted to spend on the water. We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Brett while learning from him about the tides, currents and paddling. We enjoyed many wildlife sightings including seals, bald eagles and a huge sea lion.
The food was delicious, varied and plentiful. Faisal is a superlative chef and his descriptions of the food as he presented it made our mouths water. Each meal was a delight.
The Cabana resort was just as beautiful and well kept as we remembered. The dining and lounge area and our cabana were very clean and comfortable. The private cabana with its hot shower and delightful bed with ocean and mountain views was the perfect retreat at the end of each day.
We will return!

We had a wonderful day out on the kayaks with Liam our guide. He was friendly, knowledgeable and knew all the best spots to take us, so we managed to do a lot of paddling and see a whole lot of fascinating wildlife. Sea cucumbers, crabs, urchins and harbour seals to name a few. The lunch that was prepared for us was wonderful as well. Varied, tasty and refreshing. Thank you to the team for a great time and for fitting us in at late notice too!

Awesome day tour to Grace Harbour and beyond, with some snorkeling thrown in too! Everything exceeded my expectations. We saw a ton of wildlife, including a bear swimming in front of us! The sealife during the snorkel section was exceptional. Olivia was a kind and knowledgeable guide. I highly recommend to anyone!

Me and my partner visited the Cabana Eco Resort in the Desolation Sound for a three day stay in June 2025. Despite one of us getting very sick (Before the trip), the trip was fantastic from start to finish thanks to the very professional and friendly staff.

The food that was made by Faisal the chef (On island) was some of the best we have ever tried. Big shout out to Faisal, Bret and Abbey for all their service and amazing knowledge about the history and ecology of the Desolation Sound.

We hope to come back another year with a larger group to make up for not being able to spend more time in this beautiful ecosystem. Thank you Powell River Sea Kayak. Guy & Monica.

Powell River Kayak & snorkelling tour was amazing! Our guide was super helpful, patient, and knew so much about marine life. She showed us lots of cool sea creatures. Highly recommend it!

Absolutely fantastic place to rent your kayaks! Had the opportunity to visit Powell River Sea Kayaks two years in a roll for our now *annual* Desolation Sound kayaking trip! Rentals both times have been a breeze and I'm always impressed by how quickly they get back to me about questions. They seem to have the process down pat.

Just be wary that in the summer it gets quite busy, so have your things packed and ready to go once you get to the staging area. We did our research in terms of trip plan, but if you need more tips or advice, the staff are really helpful. Outside of that, if you're prepared, they are prepared for you.

Highly recommend renting from them!

Fantastic experience all around! We did the 5 day vacation camping kayak. Keegan was a great guide and led us on a safe and fun trip! He adjusted to our skills and physical abilities well. He also prepared fantastic meals along the way! Highly recommend.
