Had an awesome day on the river with Captain Dean and Orest. Great stories and lots of laughs through the morning. Pulled in 2 Atlantics and 1 Rainbow. Dean has a wealth of experience fishing the river and it shows. It was also a treat to have the fish cleaned and bagged at end of trip. 5 + ☆☆☆☆☆. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a great experience fishing St. Marys river.
My brother in-laws were also very impressed with the action the trip presented. It was also really cool that Dean reached out to me very quickly when another group canceled allowing us to get fishing on a little shorter notice. Thanks again Dean, and all the best!

Dean is a first class guide. We did the brook trout fishing adventure and had a great time and caught some beautiful brook trout. He coached my wife to catching some pink salmon. A real gentleman and we highly reccomend his services. Hope to see you again one day Dean! Cheers, Dave & Donna Culver

I highly recommend Redwood Sportfishing Charters. Dean knows how to catch salmon in St. Mary's River. We had 4 bite and put 4 in the cooler. Dean is such a people person it was a real pleasure to spend the morning with him and crew.

Visited Sault Ste Marie July 26-30, 2019. Had made arrangements with Dean Laphon before leaving home. Was very easy to text with on setting up our half day fishing trip. We were 3 senior ladies. Dean and his mate Jesse put us at ease right away. We have lots of good laughs and conversations like we had been old friends. The sad thing for us was the mayflies and other insects had just hatched 2 or 3 days prior and the fish were not biting per them and other fisher people. But we managed to pull in a 2 lb salmon and approx. same size northern pike. Dean cleaned and filet our salmon which we grilled that evening for dinner. Delicious!! Again we couldn't have ask for better guides and really enjoyed our morning along the St. Mary's river. If we are ever back this way we would definitely fish with Dean again.

Dean is fantastic.,!
We used Redwood Charters to take my Mum out fishing who asked to go fishing for her eighty sixth birthday to ..catch a big one...
Dean forewarned us that as there was a full moon the previous night, the fishing may not be great but he made sure she landed at least one. We ended up within a coho salmon, a steelhead trout and a walleye.
Thank you Dean and Jesse.. You made our day.
We will be back in the spring and look forward to heading back out with you then.
I would recommend Dean to anyone looking for a great captain. He is thoughtful, caring and knowledgable.
He also cleaned , cut up and bagged the fish ... super nice guy.
