This quaint inn about 10 min walk to historic downtown is a treasure still in development. Rose and George have been updating this beautiful old house for the past 2 years and their love for the property shows in the work they have done. Our room was very comfortable and era authentic. The welcoming gift basket of chocolate, water and chips was a special touch and so appreciated/ enjoyed. Breakfast was very elegantly presented and we were served in the dining room. Homemade scones, banana bread , toast and omelets. Yummy. Both Rose and George were very engaging and we loved chatting over breakfast.

We had the most wonderful stay at the Rose & Thistle B&B in Lunenburg. From the moment we arrived, we felt so welcomed and cared for by Rose and George. The house itself is full of charm, beautifully maintained, and perfectly located to explore the town. Our room was fabulous, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay.

Breakfast in the morning was absolutely delicious, made with care and attention to detail. What really stood out, though, was the genuine hospitality. The hosts went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and provided great recommendations for exploring the area.

The following night we stayed at another spot in Lunenburg and immediately wished we hadn’t, nothing compared to the warmth and experience at the Rose & Thistle. We truly regret not booking a second night there.

Staying here made our trip to Lunenburg extra special, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return. Highly recommend to anyone visiting the area. Thank you, Susan and John

We had an absolutely excellent stay at The Rose & Thistle Bed and Breakfast in Lunenburg. From the moment we arrived, the hosts made us feel so welcome, warm, friendly, and attentive. The rooms were spotless, cozy, and filled with thoughtful touches that made our stay extra comfortable.

Breakfast was truly a highlight. Each morning started with fresh berries and yogurt, alongside homemade scones and banana bread. Then came a hot breakfast with delicious egg soufflés, perfectly cooked bacon, toast, fresh orange juice, and plenty of coffee and tea. Everything was crafted with such care, beautifully presented, and absolutely delicious. On our last day, we had to hit the road early and Rose even packed us a breakfast to go… such a thoughtful, above-and-beyond gesture.

It’s rare to find a place that feels both like a retreat and like home, but The Rose & Thistle manages to be both.
Highly recommend to anyone visiting Lunenburg!

Rose and George were very welcoming. Our bedroom was well appointed and very comfortable. Breakfast of omelette, homemade scones and cakes and fruit and yogurt was delicious. Definitely would recommend. 5 stars plus a few more. A lovely place to stay in lunenberg.

We stayed at Rose & Thistle in early June, as a part of a larger coast to coast Canada holiday, just before the summer season had begun to kick in. It was the most memorable accommodation we stayed at on our trip.
We found it such a delightful place to stay. The property has been beautifully restored and maintained, both inside and out and has a long and colorful past that George was only too happy to share. Our room, while compact, was very comfortable and had a very cute vibe.
The hospitality and personality of the hosts, Rosalie and George, was huge and breakfast time was hugely memorable. The two of them come originally from Newfoundland - the scone and cake recipes draw from this northern island province and it was very entertaining hearing George mimic the multiple accents.
It was almost a shame to say goodbye after only one night at Rose & Thistle.

We stayed at Rose & Thistle as part of a larger coast-to-coast Canada holiday. We booked one night simply as a place to stay in Lunenburg. Little did we know it would be the most memorable accommodation we stayed at during our entire trip.|It was such a delightful place to stay and oozed Maritimes character from every corner. The property has been beautifully restored and maintained, both inside and out by its owners and has a long and colorful past that George was only too happy to share. Our room, while compact, was very comfortable and had a very cute vibe - the provision of a snacks basket was unexpected but very appreciated.|The hospitality and personality of the hosts, Rosalie and George, was huge and breakfast time was hugely memorable. The two of them come originally from Newfoundland and the scone and cake recipes draw from the island province to the north. It was very entertaining hearing George mimic the multiple "Newfy" accents.|Our stay at Rose & Thistle was intrinsic to visiting Lunenburg and it was almost a shame to say goodbye after only one night.

We had such a lovely stay at this adorable little B&B in Lunenburg! The room was spotless and full of authentic maritime charm—cozy, welcoming, and thoughtfully decorated. We were greeted with a sweet welcome basket filled with chips, water, and chocolates, which was such a nice touch after a day of exploring.||Breakfast was a true highlight—homemade baked goods and local fare that made it feel extra special (and delicious!). The couple who own the Rose & Thistle were an absolute delight—friendly, warm, and full of helpful tips about the area.||Highly recommend if you’re looking for a charming, comfortable, and authentically East Coast experience!

We loved our stay here. The breakfasts were copious and delicious, the owners extremely friendly and knowledgeable and the location outstanding. The neighbourhood was peaceful and it was a lovely 7 minute walk along the waterfront to get to the centre of town. The owners also allowed us to put our bikes in the shed. We would definitely go back!
