The location of this beautiful older inn is fantastic! While our room was clean and did the trick, bath mats, pillows and linens in general do need to be updated including requesting tips for the house cleaner.

The nightly price vs what you get at this location should more than cover wages and bonuses (nightly prices noted for off season below.)

We paid $165 for our standard Queen room, we originally had a second night in the superior queen booked at $205 but cut our time in Lunenburg short. This Inn is listed as a B&B, however it is not a B&B, the name should just be “Sail Inn”. I called a couple times to ask basic questions such as “I want to confirm there is a fridge, as per your listing” and “we are stuck in traffic is it okay if we check in after 6” there is a language barrier with the person who answers the phone and it was extremely difficult to get basic questions answered.

Furthermore, this small town and the surrounding area in general is land of the Ocean. Upon arrival we saw a note in our room advising the housekeeper has a shell fish allergy and it is not permitted in the Inn
this is quite difficult as this is a fishing town and primarily serves shellfish, the restaurant directly across the street is an oyster bar.

To sum up, there is no breakfast at this advertised “bed and breakfast” there is a request in the room to support local restaurants, but notes around the property to ensure shellfish is not on the premises
it is unfair to the guest to ask to support local, but not to allow shellfish in the establishment, then ask for tips.

The location is great but there are many great places to stay in town, that are of similar pricing. Would recommend choosing another location to spend your money.

Nice inn with free parking if you get there before others as there are really only two spaces. It would have been nice to know ahead of time that the staff has a severe allergy to shellfish as we had leftover lobster with us that I had planned to make lobster rolls the next day. We had to eat it and then dispose of the wrapper etc. when we arrived.

That being said, it was a nice suite with a small kitchen with everything you need to prepare a meal. We had a view of the harbour. It was very clean. Everything was right there and grocery store was a short walk. Staff person was lovely. We enjoyed Lunenburg and the museum is definitely worth a visit.

Maybe this place is riding on past glory with its excellent reviews. I wasn’t impressed.|It’s central, in a period property, our room had an impressive new bathroom and a little seating area between two rooms with a good view BUT -|The outside doesn’t resemble the photo. It was blue and really needs a coat of paint. It perhaps shouldn’t be called an inn as you let yourself in and don’t meet any staff. The decor was let down by dark brown cheap chair covers and bedside lamps. The wooden floor and sills are very old and used but with decent furnishings would look good.|We couldn’t get the blind to come down or open the windows. No teaspoon to make a drink. But there was a set of house rules.|The bed wasn’t the usual large bed most places offer but the bedding was ok.|I actually would stay again if the price was low enough but just wanted to set the record straight. Lunenburg is lovely.

Just spent 4 nights at the Sail Inn. The good: location is excellent and the harbour view is beautiful. Room was spacious and clean.
The bad: communication was horrible with the host. First of all, this is not a bed and breakfast as advertised on the building's sign or online. There is NO staff on site, no information, no breakfast, no recommendations--nothing. There are not many options for breakfast in Lunenberg because most accommodations include them, so you can get a pastry and coffee nearby but not really a full breakfast. We booked our room 8 months in advance directly (no expedia etc) and received an online confirmation. A few months later we decided to add 1 more night and I emailed the owner and never heard back--I wanted to add that night to the same reservation and not create a separate reservation for the extra night. After a few weeks of not hearing back, I booked through the website for that 4th night (got the online confirmation that is generated through their booking software) and then received a super confused email from the owner about switching rooms and he clearly didn't understand my question or read the dates in my email. Fast forward to check in--I hadn't heard anything from the Sail Inn about check in and didn't think much of that (I didn't know it's a ghost property with an absentee owner) and was surprised and panicked to find a locked door with only a key pad for entry. I phoned the number and he was able to get us in but again, he was super confused and disoriented about it and then he asked for our credit card number (there was no prepayment at the time of booking, that option was not given) and after a few days of being there he phoned me and emailed to say the card didn't work. So I had to call him back (service is SUPER spotty in Lunenburg) and he was again confused (told me the expiry I gave him was 2021--umm, what? An expiry from 4 years ago?)--all this to say that it worked out but was stressful and not really what we had in mind. There are a few brochures there--like a year old travel brochure for Newfoundland, so...not really helpful when you're in Nova Scotia.

Great room, clean with a really nice bathroom. Could do with a bit of sound proofing as we could hear everything from the room above!
No real service to speak of. We had no contact with any staff. Definitely no breakfast, despite the sign on the building.

Bell Edificio storico nella via principale del villaggio...la mia camera, all ultimo piano con una meravigliosa vista mare, era ampia con vasca idromassaggio e angolo cottura...tutto perfetto
