Nous recherchions la possibilité d'observer les ours polaires en allant à leur rencontre à pied, en toute intimité. Après de nombreuses recherches, nous avons choisi la compagnie Churchill Wild et son Seal River Heritage Lodge qui propose cette aventure pour des groupes de 16 personnes au maximum. Ce fut un grand choix : le programme "Artic Safari" (9 jours Winnipeg-Churchill-Seal River-Churchill-Winnipeg) nous a permis de passer des moments merveilleux dans la toundra en compagnie de ces animaux magnifiques que nous avons approché parfois à moins de 30 mètres, grâce à la présence de deux guides à la compétence inférieure uniquement à leur sympathie. Le lodge, entouré de grillages, offre aussi parfois la surprise de voir les ours s'approcher à quelques mètres des points d'observation ou des grandes baies vitrées de la salle à manger. L'hébergement est simple, mais tout à fait confortable. Le personnel très disponible et souriant. Enfin la cuisine est bonne, quelques fois excellente (je me souviens encore maintenant de ces escalopes de caribou....).||||Parmi les aventures proposées, Artic safari nous a semblé le plus complet pour une première découverte de l'arctique. Il n'y pas que les ours, mais aussi oiseaux, renards et lièvres arctiques, ainsi que des paysages à couper le souffle. Le séjour de 48 heures à Schmock Lake (une nuit dans une cabane rustique mais confortable) nous a permis d'approcher les caribous en attendant qu'ils s'approchent de notre cachette. Féerique. De plus, le groupe est partagé en deux et tout devient plus intime.||||Un grand merci à Mike et à toute son équipe. Nous reviendrons en novembre 2016 pour observer les ours dans la neige et la glace, c'est promis.

Une expérience magique et inoubliable avec les ours polaires. Après avoir fait le Spitzberg, le Svalbard, le Groenland, c'est ici, au Seal River Lodge que j'ai enfin pu voir les ours polaires.

Chose promise, chose due... Après notre premier séjour en septembre 2014, nous sommes retournés à Seal River en fin novembre. A cette période de l'année, avec la banquise en formation, l'endroit est tout simplement féerique, à coupler le souffle !||||Malgré une journée perdue à Winnipeg en luttant contre les mauvaises conditions atmosphériques qui nous ont empêchés d'atteindre le lodge, l'expérience a été encore une fois fantastique. Le lodge, perdu dans la nature est confortable, l'ambiance très amicale, la cuisine excellente, l'organisation très professionnelle.. Et puis il y a la faune...||||Ours polaires, loups et renards arctiques nous ont tenu compagnie, parfois à quelques mètres de distance. Marcher dans des paysages somptueux à la recherche de l'ours polaire, avec un petit groupe conduit par des guides extrêmement compétents est une expérience que nous conseillons à tous les amateurs de la nature. Venez-y. Vous vivrez une aventure inoubliable. ||||L'un des endroits les plus fabuleux de notre vie de voyageurs ! Merci à tous.

Je cherche à trouver autre chose à dire que des compliments,mais je n'arrive pas en trouver !!! L'équipe du Seal River Lodge est géniale: que ce soit les guides pour s'aventurer sur les terres de l'Ours Polaire, les cuisinières pour des menus simples mais d'un raffinement incroyable, les hôtes Mike et Jeanne pour leur hospitalité sans égale... Une authentique histoire d'un hébergement touristique (et quel hébergement !) construit au fil des ans, proposant authentiques séjour et aventure... Rarissime !!!

Une expérience incroyable. Des observations émouvantes d ours et de bélugas . Des guides hautement professionnels. Pas de «  wildlife harassment « , on ne dérange pas la faune. Une lodge confortable avec des repas délicieux. Bref, le paradis.

This was a trip of a lifetime I wanted for many years, and it did not disappoint. All the staff from booking to on the ground are service focussed, efficient and friendly with a genuine love and interest for what they do. The polar bear experience was out of this world. As a photographer I couldn't have asked for more. And the respect shown to the bears was amazing. Safety is obviously treated as the highest priority and we always felt secure so we could enjoy our experiences in the wild. The food was incredible, plentiful and delicious. It really was an amazing experience and I couldn't be more grateful. Special mention to Boomer, Luke and Johnny. (but all the staff are incredible).You are the best! Thankyou so much. Forever grateful.

Our trip to Seal River Heritage Lodge was part of the Autumn Dual Lodge experience with 4 nights there and also at Nanuk Lodge. We chose it because of the unique opportunity to see Polar Bears at safe but close distances on foot. The whole trip produced many amazing encounters with the bears and overall far exceeded our expectations.|We enjoyed meeting the rest of our group ( we were 15 in total from the US, Australia and UK) on the first evening at the hotel in Winnipeg that was very close to the check in desks at the airport. This was useful as we had very early flights to Churchill the next day.|We flew in 2 groups up to the lodge. We were in the 2nd group and were looked after in Churchill for approx 90 minutes by Celine who gave us a short tour of the area in a minibus. The highlight was a visit to the Polar Bear Holding Facility ( ie prison) where bears who are caught being a nuisance in town are taken before being released in the wild out of town. We were fortunate to see preparations for a release that morning and as we took off in the small plane to fly to Seal Lodge, the helicopter lifting the released bear was also in the air nearby.|As we landed at Seal Lodge we were welcomed by bears beside the runway. One lay on a pile of gravel and was clearly used to planes flying in and out. What a welcome that was!|From then on, for the next 4 days, I do not think there was a time when we could not see at least one bear ( and usually more) out of one of the panoramic windows.|The welcome and service by the hosts, Ben and Nicole, all the catering and hospitality staff and especially the guides ( Marco, Jess, Boomer and Joshua) was warm, friendly and very professional. Everyone clearly loved the many animals and were keen to allow us to encounter them safely and have good photo opportunities.|We enjoyed every aspect of the trip, especially the walks. We had many bear encounters. We also saw the Aurora Borealis on a particularly splendid evening when many of the Lodge staff also came out to see them. We were woken several times to see them but the first night was the very best.|The meals were all delicious and varied. It was nice to read all the recipes in the cook books that were displayed at each meal. They were written by the original lodge owner and her friend.|We were very reluctant to leave Seal Lodge but after an hour's flight in the Cessna again, we arrived at Nanuk Lodge. This was equally enjoyable but different scenery because we were at the edge of the boreal forest. Here we travelled in Open topped vehicles but also got out on foot a few times too. We saw more bears and wolves but never did see the elusive moose despite seeing fresh tracks.|Overall, we can thoroughly recommend Churchill Wild adventures for a unique experience with polar bears.

We first visited Seal River 10 years ago and knew we wanted to return. |It was as good as if not better than before. |The organisation is brilliant, everything is well thought out and organised - from the correct clothing to arranging a charter flight to Winnipeg when the original flight was not possible due to the weather. |The lodge staff, under the guidance of Ben and Nicole are all very friendly, welcoming and helpful. |The lodge itself is warm, comfortable and welcoming. The food is excellent. |The guides are outstanding - we had Marco, Boomer, Rich and Effe- they are all so professional, helpful as well as friendly and good fun to be with. |As for the wildlife - outstanding. Where else in the world can you walk with polar bears. We saw bears every day and watched fascinating encounters. We were also privileged to see a wolf, silver fox, Arctic fox, red fox, snowy owl, short eared owl, Arctic hare, along with a stunning Northern Lights display|This is an incredible place and one we would love to return to.
