I can't say enough good things about this museum! Absolutely stunning from the moment you walk in. There's so much to see — every corner is packed with rich history, unique artifacts, and displays that really bring Newfoundland’s heritage to life. It's honestly worth way more than the $10 admission fee they charge. You can tell how much care and pride went into putting everything together. Do yourself a favor: go visit this place and support local history. A must-see for both locals and visitors!

Stan and Loretta Deering are so kind and passionate people. My family and I have been coming here for over 20 years. I’m fact, this was my first time back in over 20 years and to see what Stan and Loretta have done to transform, preserve, and recreate the memory of the small community of Flatrock is astounding! I truly can’t recommend this place enough.

(P. S. The blueberries are the BEST here too 🫐)

This is an amazing glimpse into the past. Most of the 20th century is preserved in a level of detail thats had to comprehend. Some of the ephemeral details of life around the bay, playing with brown paper kites, rolling hoops, cap guns, and all sorts of things are there in troves. An invaluable well of history.

Wow. Unsung heros here. Pieces of history you won't find in a museum. Honestly, I feel like there are those searching for answers about their family history, or even history of this country, Canada, and they would find answers here in this spot.

There are treasures here beyond antiques - Don's artistic representation of these small towns and bays and harbors with input from so many elders and locals are bound to unlock memories and histories for people connected to these places in their family history. His art is accurate and synthesizes the experiences of others and his own lived experience growing up in this area.

A meaningful visit if you have the time. Truly capturing pieces of history you won't find in more prominent places. Don and his wife have created something valuable and immersive, including hand sculpted representations of Carbonear Island and Harbour Grace Isands, something that's been on my mind for a while. What an interesting experience -

I especially love the Earth House. By far by favorite part, but everything was excellent. Thank you for curating such an experience.

Much appreciated.

My family and I were blown away by the depth and quality of this private museum collection. Not only is it curated entirely by a local couple, they’ve also built their own beautiful structures and replicas, fabricated entire recreations, and illustrated the area’s history in beautiful detail. This place is worth multiple visits.

Such a fantastic place! The natural beauty is extraordinary, icebergs, whales, stunning ocean views and a rugged Tolt. Stan and Loretta have poured their hearts into bringing back the history of this unique and historic location. After visiting the museum there is so much to explore on your own if you’re interested in easy hiking and phenomenal photo opportunities.
