Wonderful place and friendly staff. Could use some updating. Food was great, same or a little more then a regular down town restaurant. Drinks especially wine by the glass was a bit high. Breakfast at $30 was very steep but good.
Beautiful beach and clear water

Had an amazing stay at Sherwood Inn! The staff were friendly and accommodating, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and the amenities were top-notch. Loved the beautiful surroundings and relaxing atmosphere. Balcony facing lake was the icing on the cake. The food was delicious, and the activities were plenty. Felt like a true getaway from the hustle of daily life. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a wonderful resort experience. Cheers!!

Quite disappointing. We had cabin on the lake. We loved the little sun deck on the lake but the cabin itself is in need of updating. Tired wooden panelling and wallpaper. We had a fridge and coffee maker but no kettle and not even any cups or mugs - just paper cups! Not even a teaspoon. The pillows were either very hard or very lumpy. The TV did not work. |The dinner was nice but not 'fine dining' as described and cost a fortune! We were also upset to find cigarette lighter had been left on our balcony - either whilst we were at dinner or during the night. It definitely wasn't there when we checked in. This unnerved us as it is clearly a fire hazard in the woods next to a wooden cabin but also that someone had been on or near our balcony without our knowing. We reported all issues to reception who were completely uninterested. I was told a manager would contact me but I haven't heard a thing! Staff on reception seemed very inexperienced. |The positives were the waiting staff were very good and the location by the lake is very beautiful!

We had a 5 night stay booked for the end of May 2025 but I needed to cancel because my dog had suddenly started experiencing multiple fainting and incontinent episodes per day; we couldn’t in good conscience leave him with a sitter in this state, so we needed to cancel our highly anticipated trip that we’d been very excited for, in order to look after our dog and attend vet appointments. I called the Inn and explained our situation. They kept my $456 deposit and said I should consider myself lucky that they didn’t charge me the entire stay. The only option they offered me as an alternative was to keep the reservation and bring my dog (not a good idea since we’d be delaying his medical care and I assumed future guests wouldn’t appreciate the remnants of an incontinent dog). Keep in mind that this was in the off-season, and The Sherwood Inn chose to be this rigid and unwavering during a time when I could see by the availability on their website that the resort was virtually empty. I asked if they would be able to credit us $456 toward a future stay, even in the off-season. We could come, even in the fall, spend money on accommodations for multiple nights, as well as in their restaurant. We’d be paying them far in excess of the $456 credit, and they’d likely get a future customer for years to come. Instead, they decided to make a short-sighted business decision and lose a potentially loyal and lucrative customer. Luckily, we discovered Viamede Resort in the Kawarthas and vacationed there this summer. They’re nearly twice as expensive but their customer service is stellar and they value their guests. We already booked for next year and we look forward to being long time customers of theirs. Your loss, Sherwood.

Unfortunately, our experience was a bit disappointing. We had one of the little cabins right on the lake. This location was lovely, and we had our own private deck on the lake, which we really enjoyed in the sun. However, we did feel that the cabin itself needed updating. Very old-fashioned wooden panelling and wallpaper. Tiny bathroom with nowhere to put anything. The TV in the lounge wouldn't tune in, and although there was a fridge, there was no kettle. However, I was brought one when I asked to be fair. There were no mugs or cups, only paper cups, which wasn't great. Also, no teaspoons! The pillows were very uncomfortable, ranging from very hard to feeling like they were full of lumpy pieces of foam.
We were also placed in a different cabin to that which we had booked. No explanation was given when we checked in. I asked the next day and was told that we were given a complimentary upgrade as the one we booked was being renovated. That's, of course, is fine, but it would have been nice if this had been explained at check-in.
The final problem was found out on our balcony on the morning of our departure. I stepped out to find a cigarette lighter on the wooden surround. This was definitely not there the day before when we checked in! This unnerved us as 1. It is a fire hazard to be smoking near a wood cabin in the woods and 2. It meant someone had been on or near our deck either whilst we were at dinner or even worse when we were in bed!

I reported all of this to reception during the morning. They weren't particularly interested, and as I described the problems, the woman behind the desk sighed and looked at me as if to say,' How many things do you want to complain about'
I was not impressed. If you look at many of my other reviews, I am almost always positive. I don't like writing a bad review! I was also told that the manager would email me, but I have heard absolutely nothing.

On a positive note, the restaurant staff were lovely. The food was reasonable (although I don't think I would describe it as 'fine dining'). It was quite expensive too for what it was.

I would describe the Sherwood Inn as definitely a resort rather than a hotel. Sadly, it had a slight feel of a,rather old-fashioned holiday camp .
