⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Creative, Inspiring, and Full of Local Love – Makers is a Gem!

Makers at Southgate Centre is one of those rare stores that just feels special the moment you walk in. I absolutely love the handmade goods, the shop local vibes, and the sheer creativity packed into every corner of the store. It’s such a breath of fresh air compared to big-box retailers—everything feels thoughtfully curated and made with heart.

I left feeling totally inspired by all the artistry and craftsmanship, and I’ll definitely be back for more. Plus, I got a ton of compliments on my outfit while shopping today, so clearly the staff has great taste—I already love them for that alone!

If you’re looking for unique finds, supporting local makers, and a dose of creative energy, this store is a must-visit. 5 stars all the way!

Most of the stuff there was amazing and hand crafted my talented artists, however these stickers stuck out to me. These stickers were very obviously ai generated. I talked to the manager about this and they claimed that they made it themselves, which is unfortunate. Everything else there was great but steer away from these lazily made stickers

Most of the 1 star reviews are about the service fee. And that’s fine - but what gets me is that there is no transparency about the 13% service fee. Only after I got my receipt through my email (because there are no paper copies) did I notice it. When I asked about the fee after looking at my e-receipt I was told it helps cover packaging, fees for the store, etc. to give the artisans their fair share. While I can respect the store’s decision to impose those fees, I should know before purchasing to make an informed decision. It feels shady to not tell the customer and then to not give them a receipt. I’d feel WAY better about this store if when going to make a purchase someone said “hey just so you know we add a service fee and here’s why” giving the customer a chance to change their mind.

As for the store itself ya.. there’s some great stuff. Just be more transparent.

i enjoy what this store has to offer but i was asked several times in quick succession during my short visit if i was doing ok and it felt less like they actually cared about how i was finding things and more that they wanted to make sure i wasn't planning to steal anything. no sense of warmth or positive intention in the check in. as someone with plenty of retail experience, i understand the need for awareness when it comes to theft but i was shopping with a friend and deliberately used a basket to avoid seeming like i was suspicious. having to be conscious of this every time i step foot into a store as a person of color is very anxiety inducing and i would encourage employees to be mindful of their approach with customers in order to not turn people away from shopping here. that aside, there's an array of lovely items to check out and worth a visit especially in the name of supporting small and local. i was excited to see several of my favourite artists' items being sold here.

Wonderful artisan store for both vendors and customers. Always have wonderful friendly and very approachable customer service with the staff! Great place to showcase your products and look for unique items for yourself out the perfect gift giving!

I went to the new Makers in Southgate Mall and the warm atmosphere was really good. There were many cute and pretty products and there were many things to see. I think I'll visit often.

Love the shop makers. You can find unique products & also a handmade that you cannot find somewhere else. Look at this cute heart bracelets, car air vent diffuser & polaroid photo holder can hang in your rear view mirror. 😍

Great shop for gifts! They have so many different local creators in the shop and the space is very pretty. They charge a 13% service fee since all the sales 100% go to the artists in the store - which is a bit high, but it's really nice they have signage all around the store letting people know that so they're not caught off guard.

Makers is truly a paradise for gift shopping!
If you're looking for unique and meaningful items to give someone special, this is the perfect place. Every piece feels like it was made with love and passion—completely different from the typical mass-produced products. The variety is amazing, and you can really sense the creativity and care that went into each item. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to give something thoughtful and one-of-a-kind.
