Going on a trip with Sororal is so much more than just epic sightseeing and incredible accommodation (although those are big highlights), it’s a real cultural and unforgettable experience. What I mean is that Sororal helps you go one level deeper than just being a tourist. In every place we visited, there was a focus on meeting and supporting the women there. Whether it was the Wild Women, who work to support local communities through sustainable practices, or the staff at Emboo, who quickly became friends as we shared our stories and backgrounds, or meeting Njeri, the founder of Usimkimye (the first shelter for women in Kenya), and having dinner with her to talk. We really got to connect with women from many different walks of life beyond just a short surface interaction, which was invaluable.

I’d be wanting to go on a trip with Sororal for many reasons. To name a few; they only work with and support women led businesses and nonprofits in all their offered destinations, you get to actually connect with these women and others who share similar values to yourself, you are led by a private guide (Antonia, who is amazing by the way), and you get to do all of this while seeing incredible places and staying in beautiful accommodations.

My trip with Sororal was to Kenya with a small but amazing group of four. I didn’t know anyone at the start, but we all became close really quickly, bonding over the shared experiences. Our trip took us from Nairobi to various lodges around the Masai Mara. We stayed in incredible places where we woke up to the sound of the river right outside our doorstep, sat under acacia trees watching animals pass by as we sipped coffee with fresh almond milk (they made it fresh at Emboo because they didn’t have any – yes, it was the best I’ve ever had), watched far-off storms and lightning color the sky at sunset, got up close and personal with baby lion cubs, baby hyenas, leopards, and cheetahs. We even got massages in a spa right on the river, surrounded by nothing but nature sounds, and swam in a pool across from a field filled with giraffes after a long day of safari and so much more.

The best part is that we experienced all this with zero planning on our part, Sororal took care of every single detail which made the whole trip super stress-free.

There is so much more to tell that I could write a book about all the things we experienced and all the people we met, but instead of doing that I’m just going to highly recommend to everyone to go on one of these trips (especially to Kenya) to experience it for yourself. You won’t regret it, I guarantee it! It lives up to every expectation and goes beyond it even.

Thank you, Megan and Linsey, for giving me this experience that I’ll cherish forever and also for introducing me to people who I’ve remained good friends with since!

Would give ten stars if I could. Sororal is the kind of company we need more of in our world. A woman-owned and woman-ran business that supports women through travel and experiential connections - not to mention the travel destinations and amenities are *chefs kiss*

Sororal made my dream come true! The safari to the Maasai Mara touched my soul. Being stared at by an elephant matriarch to ensure the safety of her baby, watching a herd of topi chasing a leopard at sunrise, observing a dazzle of zebras at sunset and soaking up the tranquility of the landscape – just a fraction of wildlife encounters enriched by our very knowledgeable guide. The visit to the Maasai village was inspirational. Talking with the female elder, enjoying the laughter and joy of the people and getting a glimpse into their life made me feel alive and hopeful.

What also touched me deeply was meeting local women who are making a positive difference in their communities. From individuals to women-led organizations, Sororal facilitated discussions with strong, passionate and determined women who are contributing value to the betterment of society and our planet.

In addition, Sororal took care of every conceivable need to enhance the overall experience, starting with the greeting at the airport through to the sad goodbye. Macushla House and Emboo River Camp were exceptional in every regard – from the setting to accommodation to food to the service provided by gracious hosts and staff. House In The Wild provided an insight into the conservancy efforts in that part of Kenya. The abundance of wildlife is a testament to the success of this endeavour. And, the trip was FUN! It can’t get any better than this.

I am not sure whether I am writing a review or a love letter! My recent trip to Kenya with Sororal exceeded every hope and expectation I had had for this trip (and let's be clear - they were high, thanks to the great pre-trip attention paid by Sororal in terms of answering every question swiftly and so helpfully, and providing wonderfully helpful pre-trip guidance such as packing lists and suggested reading).

I'll start with the accommodations, food and logistics. Perfection! The places we stayed (Macushla House, Emboo River and House in the Wild) were fantastic. Every need catered to, comfort above all, and the most wonderful, kind, helpful and friendly teams working at each place. I still dream about falling asleep in my comfortable beds, warmed up by hot water bottles (!), listening to the beautiful night sounds (okay, except for the hyrax, but that is another story!). With each departure, I felt like I was leaving family. I had not expected the trip to also include exquisite dining, but day after day (after day), the meals were just incredible - healthy, fresh and so delicious! Yummy cocktails too! And every possible logistical detail was thought of in advance and covered. This was absolutely the smoothest trip I have ever been on.

Next, the nature. This trip exposed me to sights I will treasure for the rest of my days. Sunrises and sunsets (with my most favourite of rituals, the sundowner!) that took my breath away. The most beautifully decked-out birds! And the animals. In my wildest dreams I had not imagined all that I ended up seeing. But it was more than just seeing. We were exposed to so much thanks to our wonderful guides. The private guide who accompanied us from start to end, Antonia Leckie, is in a class of her own. So generous with her vast knowledge, she helped us learn and really appreciate everything we were seeing. Our guides at Emboo and House in the Wild were also wonderful. I felt privileged to be with responsible and ethical guides, who were so respectful of the animals and really seemed to care about helping us to understand the animals and their behaviours. And what did we see? Lions (and mamas with their cubs!), zebras, giraffes, buffalo, warthogs, leopards, cheetahs, hyenas, so many different types of gazelles and antelopes, and elephants, so many beautiful elephants. And on and on. Bucket list? Tick.

And finally, the connections. Sororal enabled so many wonderful conversations with women who are making a difference in Kenya. I was able to learn so much about so many issues facing the county, and to meet so many women who are part of the solutions. Inspiring discussions that left me in awe of what women can do! We also had a chance to visit a Maasai village, where we were so warmly welcomed. More wonderful learning and conversations that will stay with me forever. Plus the responsible actions being taken where we stayed (such as using solar power, electric vehicles, sustainable farming, equitable hiring) were inspirational.

I also learned that there is something magical about travelling with women. Our conversations were deeper, somehow. And our laughter faster (and longer-lasting ... I will always remember a dinner we could barely get through because we just could not stop laughing!). And when the tears came (from being completely overwhelmed by beauty, joy and connection), immediate comfort and understanding.

I will be forever grateful that I did this trip with Sororal. It was, simply put, the most perfect of experiences.
