Snowy Fun at Sugar Bowl!

I took my niece to Sugar Bowl, and we had an amazing time sliding on the snow! The hill was just the right size for both kids and adults to enjoy, and we couldn’t stop laughing as we raced down again and again. The snow was perfect—smooth enough for a fast ride but soft enough for a safe landing.

It was such a simple yet exciting way to spend the day outdoors. Watching my niece’s face light up with joy made it all the more special. Definitely a great spot to enjoy some winter fun in Lethbridge!

The Sugar Bowl is a well-known small park in Lethbridge because of its geography and location. This park gently dips toward the river valley and has great little hills to roll down in the summer and sled down in the winter. It can be a busy spot in the winter!

The park is located just East of Scenic drive along a pathway and park system that stretches to the Oldman River to the East, and to Mayor Magrath Drive (then on to South Parkside Drive and Henderson Lake) to the East. It is connects to the Scenic Drive multi-use pathway along Scenic Drive with a convenient tunnel under Scenic Drive to access the river valley trails and Scenic Drive pathway.

There is a paved path that follows along the bottom of the park, and a cement walkway along the North rim.

Parking is available along the street on both sides of the park, but is limited to on-street parking.

There is a fitness-oriented playground on the NE end of the park, suitable for all ages. There are also fruit trees and berry shrubs near the playground.

In the winter, this is a very fun thing to do! Buy a sled and bring some warm clothes.

Even with only a skiff of snow the kids had fun sledding, sugar bowl is the best sledding spot we've found around.

Groomed, manicured city park that transforms into a wild urban landscape as you emerge from the under highway tunnel. Two deer noted. Another park goer mentioned an aggressive coyote she had encountered the day previously. Multiple sightings of a cougar near this park this week attest to it's wildness.

The Sugar Bowl is fabulous!! We love the fun slopes for our kiddos to slide down. Our boys are 11, 7, and 3 and they each have so much fun. The coolest part about the Sugar Bowl is the different intensities and inclinations to each side of the "bowl". There are little hills for little (or big) sledders of all ages. My fiance even gets in on the fun with the kids like a big kid and has a blast. Accessible, local family winter fun 💖
