Mauvaise expérience. 4h de retard au départ. 1h de retard au départ. Compensation ridicule. Même pas de repas pour compenser l'attente. Ils sont insouciant de leur clientèle. Nous avions un bébé avec nous et ils se foutent complètement des répercussions de l'attente sur les êtres humains que sont leurs clients. Si au moins la compagnie se forçait pour dédommager les clients. A la place, ils donnent des coupons rabais en guise de compensations comme si c'était courant pour eux de se défiler de cette façon. Avec tout ce qui sort dans les nouvelles récemment a propos de Sunwing : terminé pour nous.

Booked last minute for two weeks in Guayabitos, Mexico.
While we were there the snowstorm / plane crash in Toronto.
Some other Sunwing travellers came to the resort in the middle of the night, stayed for a couple of days. Our plane was delayed returning to Calgary but we got alerts in plenty of time, the front desk coordinated with Sunwing staff for us and we were notified of new bus times, flight delays etc reasonably well.
We know a lot of people had an awful time but the staff we dealt with did really well.

I had a terrible experience with Sunwing's booking and reimbursement process. After canceling a trip that was insured, I was issued a voucher. I used this voucher for a new booking, which Sunwing later canceled. They promised a full refund but failed to clarify how it would be processed. When I booked another vacation while waiting for the refund, I was informed I could not use the expected credit. This left me in financial limbo, without access to my vouchers when I needed them most. Sunwing's customer service was unhelpful and misinformed me multiple times. Extremely disappointed and would not recommend.

Sunwing is an absolute disasterclass. Our 3:30 flight was delayed 7 hours, then 10 more hours, 2 hours, 1 hour. Alerts stopped coming. At the airport for the second time, we see it delayed another 5 hours. Three more hours pass, then fully canceled—after nearly 24 hours of chaos, a whole day of time off work, two trips to the airport, near total breakdown in communication leaving everyone guessing. Staff were poorly informed by Sunwing too, polite, but still leaving their passengers even further amiss.

This wasn’t just us—hundreds of passengers across 12+ flights were stranded, exhausted, and left scrambling with no compassionate messaging. Their momentary solution of pathetic $20 meal vouchers did not cover the cost of delays and transit. Sunwing treats its customers like afterthoughts. Avoid them at all costs.

Sunwing has the poorest customer service I’ve ever experienced. Did you know that representatives hung up on your phone call when you are calling for help and they do not know how to escalate the situation? Worst than that is that they know it, and when you tell them this is happening the do not apologize or try to make it right. Calling Sunwing is stressful and exhausting. How is management following up in this? Phone calls are no longer recorded for quality assurance. There is no accountability for anything with this airline. I would vote it the worst!

When we got to Toronto international airport we were told that we check in at one gate and they would transfer us to another gate for departure. We were picked up by a bus that was mostly standup only. It was quite a ride to the other gate at the far end of the airport. We then had to wait for the plane which was like a bus terminal. Not too nice if you want to use one of the lounges because there isn’t any their.
We got on the plane no problem which was a newer 737. Very tight seating though, not comfortable for someone tall. We got to our destination and we were picked up at the Cancun airport by a Sunwing van. When we arrived at the resort they said we had to meet with our sunwing rep the next day. She said we had to pay a tourist tax on line which we tried to do but our credit cards rejected it as it was flagged as a possible fraudulent site. We waited the next day and spoke to a different rep and he said that it is possible that the site is fraudulent and don’t bother paying it because no one asks at the airport anyway. What a waste of time as now I had to cancel my credit card just in case it was fraudulent.
The holiday was perfect otherwise except on our last day sun wing forgot to pick us up to take us to the airport. We had to take a cab and pay $75.00 which the rep said we would have to claim when we got back. We did make a claim on their website so we will see how long it takes to get our money back.
The RIU palace riviera maya is a beautiful resort, the staff are very attentive and friendly and the food is excellent! The waiters are the best in Mexico! Highly recommend them.
P.S we did finally get a refund for the cab ride to the CanCun airport.
