Stayed at the Driftwood for 1 night. First when we walked into the lobby we were surprised and concerned at how much the lobby smelled of cigarette smoke. We asked the front desk why this was and she said she just recently had a cigarette outside the door. After confirming that this was infact a smoke free hotel, we quickly got checked in. We noted the the building was getting painted, great to see some renovations taking place. The interior hallways absolutely need to be updated, hopefully they are on the renovation list as well.
We had a 2nd floor unit with an ocean view. The bathroom had been recently renovated, and while it is extremely small: the renovations do like nice.
The room was quite large and had a fresh coat of paint and flooring done recently. The room itself is very dark and needs a few touches to make it more cozy. Althought the beds, pillows and bedding were all very comfortable.
When we settled in for the night, we found our TV was not working. On-site staff leave at 9pm, so we ran down to the front desk at 8.45pm for help. Receptionist came up to the room, was eventually able to fix it after calling another staff member for help. The telephone in our room was also not functional.
Renovations to the waterfront side of the building started at 830am the next day (Sunday morning). They were ripping off the siding of the exterior of the building. We had specifically booked and paid extra for an ocean front room with a balcony to be able to enjoy coffee and breakfast outside and were unable to due to the noise, loose, hanging wires and construction debris falling onto the balcony. This rendered the balcony completely unsafe for use.
We asked the construction workers why they started so early, they first denied starting at 830 (but they did) then said they were told this section of rooms was unoccupied. The wires and cables were extremely unsafe to be dangling right outside our balcony and we were shocked that this work was being completed while there were guests. There was no notice or warning about any of this work and it was unexpected on a Sunday. I had called to make the reservation, no one said anything. There are signs that the restaurant is closed due to construction but nothing about ongoing building work. When we checked in, it was not communicated that there would be contruction at 830 the morning on a Sunday.

While the hotel is in a lovely location, very convenient to shops and the beach, we are very disappointed in the hotel's lack of communication and the inability to use the amenity we specifically booked and paid for.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Firm mattress (king size) is rare which i was very happy about. Front desk lady was kind and helpful. It is equipped with mini fridge coffee maker microwave but it is a little dated. Regardless it was perfect for me.

Stayed here with my grandkids. When we got up there was no water. Called front desk and were told she had at learned that water was being shut off as some rooms are being renovated
I felt bad for staff as she was the one who got all the irate customers. Not her fault but management left her holding the bag. It would have been good if website mentioned construction and possibly disruptions. No water is a sanitation issue. Would have stayed elsewhere if we had known.

Cob webs under the sink along with an ant trap wedged in corner under sink which looks like it hasn't been moved in years. Comforters have holes and inside material exposed. Chambermaid knocks and than opens the door telling me she wants to clean our room. Videos to hotel is misleading

The only thing good I can say about this motel is the location. other than that, the place is disgusting. The room was filthy dirty on so many different levels. I would say that even the health inspector wouldn’t approve this place being open. We were supposed to stay for longer but it was late and we needed to get some rest after a long travel day. Fortunately, the woman on the desk that night was very kind and supportive of our discussed with the room. We took lots of pictures and showed her. We told her we wouldn’t be staying the rest of our time there. We checked out after the first night because we had to have someplace to sleep. Needless to say we didn’t get any sleep out of the disgusting surroundings. The man at the front desk was very rude and insulting to us.

Amazing location so convenient for everything.

But the rooms are not only old and dated, but my room was not clean. There was dirt and dust bunnies that I could see in behind the end table, dirt piles under the furniture, and old soap in the tub.
Also a lack of available power outlets everywhere, + the TV provider sucks. The TV is very glitchy and seems to be constantly refreshing or something.

They leave this little thing in their book about how they're trying to be environmentally friendly, but provide a Keurig coffee maker? What happened to the good old days of a regular coffee maker and biodegradable coffee packets?

Speaking of kitchen, the refrigerator is on its last legs, and barely kept my food cold.

There is no one working the desk between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m., which is a bit inconvenient if you lose your card key or something. The lady that checked us in was nice enough, but clearly the housekeeping doesn't give a crap.

So low stars for cleanliness and amenities, but once again an amazing location.

Had a very rude man come up to me as I parked in the empty parking lot and was super rude yelling at me telling my I can’t park here because it’s private property. VERY RUDE. IN WHITE CHEVY TRUCK. if he’s the owner he should realize how you act in a small town. No wonder no one goes here.
