The hotel is an architectural beauty. The suites are spacious and well distributed. It feels like an Airbnb but well groomed and super clean. The only issue is that the bathroom is on the ground and the rooms are on two different levels. I found that a bit uncomfortable. The common areas are clean and well illuminated. During the day we had a question and texted them, the reply was fast.
Check in process is simple and contactless. Check out did not work that way and we were told to leave the key inside the room.
Negatives: the washing machine for the hotel is next to suite 1...don't book that suite...the noise of the machine woke us up at 7 am on Monday. It was a holiday for us and we were hoping to sleep late. The other negative is the location. Not super close to downtown and there is a shelter close to it with people walking around close to it.

Fabulous loft boutique rooms! Beautifully appointed, comfy bed, fun records/vinyl to listen to on the turntable. Easy walking distance to downtown restaurants and shopping. Very quick to reply to text messages. We purchased the local artist record/vinyl and were not disappointed-great to add to our collection. Highly recommend if you are staying in Kingston!

We travelled to Kingston for a weekend away and had a fantastic stay at The Smith Hotel. We were delighted with all the small touches - an essential oil diffuser running as we checked in, making the room smell amazing. The soft lighting and unique decor choices. We loved the record player too! Bed was comfortable and the bedding and pillows felt luxurious.

The service was on point, with help being a quick text away and usually an answer back almost immediately.

The location was perfect with restaurants and shops a short walk away - although we didn't pick the greatest weekend for it with there being an ice storm, we still had a wonderful time.

We were very pleasantly surprised by our stay at The Smith. The automated check in process was very smooth and easy. The room had some great amenities and the prices were reasonable. The record player turned out to be a really nice plus. The location was great. The room itself was very nice, and the bed was very comfortable. If you're over a certain age and need to use the bathroom in the middle of the night, just be aware that the lofts have a lot of stairs to try to navigate in the dark. Overall, we loved our stay, and we will for sure be back.

We had a wonderful stay! We would recommend to family and friends without hesitation. The unit so well appointed and we were very comfortable. I especially liked the record player and selection of vinyl. I even picked up a few random records while in town to extend our musical repertoire. The amenities were all individually appreciated. We didn't use the mini bar because we came prepared but we would have, given a need. They provided a lovely, well curated selection of Canadian sourced products. The unit was spacious and a great landing spot for a evening in.

The Smith Hotel is absolutely amazing—I’ll never stay anywhere else in Kingston. This stunning property, an old church beautifully converted into a boutique hotel, is a masterpiece of architecture, charm, and design. Every detail, from the thoughtful decor to the seamless blend of history and modern luxury, shows the care and vision that went into creating this exceptional space.

The customer service was equally remarkable. I could text the managers directly, and they consistently responded within minutes, making the experience even more personalized and stress-free.

To be honest, I’m almost hesitant to write this review because this little gem deserves to stay a well-kept secret—but it’s just too good not to share. If you’re looking for an unforgettable place to stay in Kingston, I cannot recommend The Smith Hotel enough. You won’t be disappointed!

From the time you enter the lovely limestone building, you know you are not in any old hotel. A perfect blend of contemporary and old world design and style. The Loft is furnished with contemporary furniture and minimalist design against the background of old limestone walls. Everything is provided to ensure the ultimate relaxing experience. We will return. You will not be disappointed.

A very beautiful and unique place to stay in Kingston. These mini apartments are located in the heart of the city near the waterfront and close to shops and restaurants. Walking distance to everything! They are spacious, very clean and comfortable and contain all the amenities and then some. The check in system is quick and easy.
