Nous avons loué une voiture compacte pour 4 jours et tout s'est très bien déroulé. La jeune fille a l'accueil était très souriante. Nous étions passé par le site bsp auto pour la réservation et nous n'avons pas eu de cout supplémentaire. Retour rapide.

Great experience with Thrifty/Hertz/Dollar. Rented a car from Thrifty at the Halifax Airport location.

When I arrived at the counter they had multiple staff ready to help you. Pulling up my reservation and assigning a vehicle was quick and easy. Staff were friendly and helpful. They even gave me a bigger vehicle than I originally rented which was nice and gave me detailed directions on how to return the vehicle before opening hours as I had a 6am flight scheduled.

They also promptly send my final invoice via email once they checked in the vehicle.

The only reason I gave 4 starts instead of 5 is that when booking online, the search will not provide any available vehicles if you are are returning outside of business hours. I know most locations do, but I had to call to find out if I had the ability to at this particular location and it was almost impossible to find their local phone number online to call and find out. Their toll-free number does not provide the option to speak with someone directly if you do not have a reservation which made it more difficult.

I have never experienced such poor customer service from any car rental company. First and last time I will use them, and I definitely do not recommend. I left my vest in the car, I spoke to someone, who was great. He found my vest, told me how to arrange getting it back to me. I did a he said, I didn't hear from anyone for 6 days, I finally reached someone who again was very helpful. Got the link from the list n found only to see, they are trying to bill me US$'s to ship from Canada to Canada. I'm in Ontario and my vest is in Halifax.
Trying to reach someone is absolutely impossible, the CSR, I spoke to advised he'd have his manager Stephanie call me, that was two days ago.
Still no vest, no call from customer service or Stephanie, or any other manager from the Halifax location. I called the corporate office to file an official complaint on this location. I was given the number to lost and found, left on hold for 25 minutes, for the call to ring like it was transfered to someone, then I was hung up on. The car I had was a Ford Escape, it was the worst vehicle I've ever rented, 36k km on it and it drove like it had 136k.
I left a Google review on Hertz site, as Thrifty is owned by Hertz. Very poor customer service and will not use or recommend this organization again.
I want my vest back, I should have to go through all this headache and or have to pay US $'s to ship within Canada, that's a scam.

PLEASE DO NOT RENT ANY VEHICLE FROM THIS PLACE ALOT OF HIDDEN CHARGES FAIR WARNING TO ALL I WOULD ADVISE EVERYONE TO LOOK ELSEWHERE. So the story goes I rented a car on January 9th of 2024. I have already paid up until the 22nd of January. On my voucher it says 0 dollars at pick up 0 dollars at drop off. So was very surprised when I go to get my car. Which they did not have I booked a chevrolet spark and got a kio rio that now I have to pay $20 a day for winter tires. Then an additional 89 PLC charge (premium location charge) as well as the 15% provincial tax. Then on top of this the Airport charges 16.28% on all final sale purchases so i had to pay an additional $387. Just to leave the lot so I was hand cuffed so to speak I needed to get to Cape Breton for a family matter which was the purpose of my trip. So i pay the charge with intention on disputing it later. There is also no mention of a deposit of $350 however that is understandable most rental companies do this. So I make sure to take photos of the car when I get in and to no surprise i was shorted 100kms on fuel. At my expense of course. So I am driving I do make it to Cape Breton I am now on Kellys Mountain and the car has zero gas power. So I am now stranded for over 45 minutes. The car is running so i still had heat but no power after 45 i guess the car warmed back up i get power again and make it to my destination. Reported this the following day as per this car only has 57000KMS. They say sorry about this. Scheduled to speak with a manager. No response they are not in today.. the run around. Ok so Day 2 I have to go the Family meeting that is scheduled. So i do that and afterwards i go to a restaurant This whole trip is Approximately 40-45KMS. After I am done i start the car and drive for less then 2 minutes this time is does die on me at a red light. Take me Approximately 15 minutes to get it started again. It is now night time and I am scared to drive the car the Approximately 40-45KMS back to my family home. So I stay over night again at my expense. In the morning it takes me several minutes to get it started again finally it does I start driving back and im praying I make it there. I do make it and I speak with a manager that day. Her name is Stephanie she offers me a "free upgrade to an SUV" I say absolutely I do not want to drive this car anymore. This car is not maintained at all air filter full of water leaves dirt debris Coolant at a critical level. I have photos off all this also. Since there was some weather it took the company 2 days to get the SUV to me I get it in the early afternoon. Again at my expense while not able to rely on this car. I still have to pay for it. When i get the SUV everything seems normal no mechanical issues everything seems good. Then I drop off the SUV to catch my plane. Surprise charge of 58.05 for service fees. I do not understand this at all I am not surprised as per this place is a complete and udder total scam not only was it a nightmare with the extra/hidden fees and loss of vehicle they slap on 58.05 just because they can. As a pround Nova Scotian it is criminal what they are doing at this location absolutely disgusting. You should not be aloud to rent out unreliable vehicles to where which it can put people in danger. Absolutely awful service but hey once they have your credit card that is their main focus. So if anyone reads this please know this is all 100% true with not a word of lie. PLEASE LOOK ELSEWHERE so you do not have to endure the nightmare I went through.

Booked a Corolla from Halifax through Zest, pre-paid, bit of a slow process getting signed and by the time we got to the desk, all the Corollas and equivalent had gone. So we were given a Pacifica minivan, which was brilliant. Handover at the end absolutely the simplest process I've ever experienced with a rental. No quibbles, no scams, very happy.

Avoid this car rental agency and Expedia if you can. I found what I thought was a fair price for a Thrifty rental through Expedia. I prepaid everything except the taxes using a combination of credit card and Expedia points. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, the counter - which is shared between Thrifty, Hertz, and Dollar - was getting busy and was very understaffed. Eventually I got to the front and completed the normal paperwork for a rental. A credit card deposit was taken, as is normal practice. The vehicle was perfect - no issues. I returned it a few days later with a full tank of fuel and did a quick-drop as again, the counter was busy and understaffed. I expected to be charged only for the taxes. When I reviewed my email rental invoice, I found that they had charged me again for the Loss & Damage Waiver that I had already paid for through my Expedia booking. They also charged me the taxes and fees based on their current daily rental rate instead of the Expedia daily rate. Overall I was overcharged nearly $190. I contacted the Thrifty manager expecting he would realize the error and simply refund me the overcharge. Not so. He offered me a $100 gift certificate towards a future rental. I declined. Expedia was equally useless. These two companies collude with each other to draw people in with low prices, then look the other way while pointing the finger at each other and denying they've made a "mistake". The good news is that my credit card company - Scotiabank - was quite happy to investigate using the invoices and documents I kept, and refunded me the entire overcharge, which will eventually work its way back to Thrifty. Meanwhile, I'd walk before I'd rent another vehicle from Thrifty, Hertz, or Dollar, and will never book anything through Expedia again. At best they're stupid, and more likely they're simply scammers.

Absolute nightmare! We were double charged for our rental. There is literally no way to get in touch with customer service. The phone is all pre-recorded messages. There is no working link for "contact us" on their web-site. Once I've gotten through (finally) to a live person, I got a massive run around and was told to call airport (!!!). No solution. Ended up disputing charges with the credit card company. Shady business. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM.

If you like huge lineups and cars not ready this is your best place to rent a car. Plan ahead and enjoy the unique grey walls with matching tile. Going through security is a breeze compared to standing in the non moving line of people in the same situation.
Nevertheless after paying in full at time of booking including taxes. Surprise you are dinged with hidden fees and taxes upon return of vehicle.
