What a spectacular brief walk. Once you get there. The access road from paved asphalt is pretty rough in spots. It isn’t terrible road. But pretty bumpy. In sections. 9kms takes 10-15 minutes given the twists and turns on the gravel from main 587 road. It is wide enough most of the way for two vehicles. But quite a few spots with unavoidable wash board and sections of pot holes.

Anyway.

Once you get to the lookout it is less than minute walk to the look out.
Jaw dropping. Open grill walk. If you are afraid of heights this will test you!!
Approximately a 300 ft elevation. Beautiful vista!
So worth the short trip. Around 40 minute diversion from Trans Canada. One way.
So many times driving by and always in a hurry to get through and missing so many of the beautiful sites that there are to be seen. Glad I’m taking more time to check these out. Canada is absolutely beautiful. So much to see if we slow down and check this stuff out!!
Easy walk. There is an outhouse on site. Hold your nose. Typical outhouse. Still better than nothing. Great spot for a picnic.

Very cool spot to see the surrounding area from 100m above Lake Superior.
This is not a place to go for people with a luxury or not-in-great-shape vehicle. Neither for those with physical disabilities.
The road is very rough, narrow, long and steep at times.
It's an amazing view over the lake, looking towards the mainland.

Thunder Bay Lookout on the Sleeping Giant Provincial Park land has a spectacular view of big water and Superior Shores. There is a man made pier floating above the Cliffside that offers a birds eye view of the lake and land below. The solid rock road access was interesting as you arrive to the lookout point at end of 9 km drive in. Trails are available for the experienced hiker that are rated as black diamond or difficult. Beautiful Vista and highly recommended 👌 👍 👍

The drive here was really rough - it's a dirt road with lots of potholes, so I'd recommend being careful while driving on the road. The view was spectacular and gorgeous - 100 m over Lake Superior - but not recommended if you're scared of heights!

Decent place with a great view of the Thunder Bay city. It’s located in the sleeping giant provincial park and surrounded by greenery all around. Drive up there is quite nice too. Paved road all the way and a mud/slushy road for about 7-8kms at the end. Anyone who likes off-roading in their daily driver would love this route. There’s parking for around 10 cars on the top. The view is scenic and mesmerizing, with the big lake and beautiful mountains right across. The lookout has a strong base and can hold a large group at a time. Lots of bugs around, so if you’re not comfortable around them better get that bug spray before you go up. No need to buy the park ticket for your car if you’re only visiting the lookout, but I wouldn’t recommend doing that as sleeping giant provincial park has loads of more attractions for all kinds of nature lovers.

Such amazing place. The drive in wasn't too bad, but it did have its areas that you had to be careful. But the view is breathtaking. 😍

Excellent quick trip from thunder Bay about an hour or so. Last road is mostly loose gravel hilly and twisty. I would not recommend to travel in by car if it is wet out you may get stuck. Our front wheel drive small SUV made it up just fine. What an awesome view!
