I run a day program and as I was helping a student that has special needs get to their transhelp cab, it started driving away…arrived at 3:15 even though it’s scheduled for 3:30, then just as we are approaching the vehicle at exactly 3:26 on foot the driver starts pulling away aggressively to drive off.
As he U-turned I stood in front of the vehicle waving to signal that we are here and he rolled down the window and said he already cancelled the ride…I said, but you are leaving 4 minutes early why did u cancel the ride? He said he has someone else to pick up and I told him we are here and we are within the 15 minute window you need to take my student home. Then he said he had to call in and was parked for 5 minutes as we waited outside. Without so much as an explanation he drives away without my student.

For a service that is supposed to help vulnerable people with disabilities this organization has poorly trained and vetted drivers which is dangerous. Not only was the car sounding like it was in disrepair with a muffler issue, but the snow tires were already on and looked bald. Additionally, on previous occasions drivers have dropped off my students at the wrong location…this is obviously a case of hiring people who are unable to read their manifests and may actually be illiterate. Management needs to begin better vetting and training for drivers.

I would give them 0 stars. Terrible service. All they do is put their hands under their armpits and wait. They do not even grab the wheelchair, they expect us to roll it to the ramp. The entire reason we have TransHelp is because nobody is at home during the weekdays. Otherwise we would not need them. No other TransHelp driver has a problem with rolling the wheelchair to the ramp. They want the person who is already disabled to take their own wheelchair out, sit on it, and roll it to the ramp. This lady didn’t even take my grandmother, even though she was sitting on the wheelchair. She just left her on the driveway.

Transhelp buses and trained drivers are awesome; however, those companies that are contracted to transhelp are not.
Moreover, they hold only basic insurance so if you get injured while traveling with the contracted companies you are only covered for $3500 for any form of recovery therapy.
I don't get it. As a driver I carried $2,000,000 liability insurance in the case that an able-bodied person gets injured in my car and these companies that deal with persons with disabilities, carry simple and basic coverage?
There is something seriously wrong with this picture. Wouldn't you agree?

What a waste of public funded money! They subcontract with local taxi companies (a black cab)
They offer door to door service but the cab drivers lack compassion and care for the disabled!
They are lazy drivers who will misuse the weather for being late and use it for not giving door to door service
No one to follow up on the sub contractors or reprimand them allowing for sub standard service for people with disabilities

Not flexible, needs to realize that people using Transhelp just want to enjoy their life, and live it to the fullest. There are too many restrictions, their online booking system is outdated and not user friendly. This needs to be upgraded and user friendly.

A first time Transhelp passenger, learned of Transhelp because my parents availed of this resource. A great resource for seniors with limited mobility. Designated drivers assist getting on the vehicle, if you have a bag, carries it for you. Drivers have a respectful stance on dealing with individuals with special needs. Thank you for great service. Truly, well done. Cannot thank staff enough, constant who schedules the trips and drivers.

The Transhelp service is amazing! It allows me to get my dad out and about safely and comfortably. My dad has been using the service for over a year now and he can visit his day program, go to appointments, visit the mall, and even go on short field trips to the lake. The drivers are so kind and friendly and I have gotten to know many of them as we use Transhelp about 3 times a week! So grateful for Transhelp!

Not perfect, sometimes frustrating, most drivers are fantastic, some need retraining on how to help those in wheelchairs, overall 4 out of 5. Hopefully one day can give higher.
