Travellers Motel - Stratford, Ontario

Je ne sais pas si cet hotel pratique le overbooking. J'avais réservé via expedia plusieurs semaines à l'avance, je crois environ 6-7 semaines. J'ai été étonnée qu'on n'exige aucun dépot de réservation. Lorsque je me suis présentée le soir de la réservation, il ne trouvait pas mon nom sur la liste. J'étais seule, partie en train de Montréal, il était tard, j'étais inquiète de me retrouver sans endroit où dormir. Pendant qu'il cherchait mon nom, une client est entré et l'homme à l'accueuil lui demandait si elle pouvait changer de chambre, et j'ai pu constater l'inquiétude de cette cliente qui lui a demandé pourquoi. Plus tard on a retrouvé la fiche, ça a dû prendre 10 minutes! Le monsieur m'a dit "you scared me", mais c'est moi qui aurait pu lui dire ça car je n'ai commis aucune erreur en réservant, lui oui. Cela dit, un coup le check in fait, la chambre était correct, 2 ou 3 cheveux et poils dans le bain et sur le siège de toilette, mais a part ça c'était acceptable. Je voudrais mentionner qu'il n'y a pas de cafetière dans la chambre, ça je le savais en réservant, mais ce que j'ignorais est que le café à l'accueuil était disponible seulement à 7h30.Or je devais quitter à cette heure, à pied, pour me diriger à la gare. L'homme m'a accomodé et j'ai pu avoir un café à 7h15, mais j'étais debout depuis 5h30 le matin.

An older motel for sure, but our room was clean and well kept. Easy to check in and out, but not exactly what I would call "walking distance" from the downtown. It was over a mile and a half to the Avon theater, so we drove.

It is in need of a fix up on the outside. I was taken aback a bit upon entering the car park. However, it's a very nice gentleman that runs it. The room is clean and in good nick. Lots of hot water,comfy big bed , lots of seating, free streaming on the TV. The room has a microwave and a small refrigerator. Lots of room to unpack if you've got a suit or dresses to hang. On the main Street, about 15 to 20 mins walk to the theater, Upper Queens Park ,etc. 5 min Drive to the downtown. Mall and Plaza are conveniently nearby . Gas station and variety store too. Good enough for a quick visit. 👌

Went on a trip to Stratford, wanted a motel as far away from downtown as was practical. The room was very spacious, with a very large bathroom. Microwave, fridge and TV provided. It was wonderful to enjoy the quite of the area. The motel is conveniently right next to the line 2 bus stop heading downtown.

I love Stratford and I was thrilled to get the best deal in Stratford for a cozy room. I was able to walk downtown in less than half an hour. The room was clean and had a homey feel to it and the shower is outstanding with continuous hot water. The staff is kind and friendly. My boyfriend and I slept real well.
It was so peaceful even though Travellers Motel is off busy Ontario Street. Lots of shops and restaurants nearby too. What a pleasant place to stay and much more affordable than other lodging in town. Travellers Motel wins my vote.

So I won’t lie. I was expecting just a basic run of the mill motel. But was I ever surprised. First they called me prior to arrival to see what time so they could have the room all toasty warm and ready. That is super cool on its own. Once I got to the room. Damn!!! Very nice. Very clean. And the service was exceptional. Looks old on the outside. But everything is updated in the rooms. This is a true hidden gem. Will definitely be here again. As I work not to far from here.

Outstanding value. About half the price of other motels just down the road. So very highly recommended for those attending The Stratford Festival on a budget.

Very, very clean. It's a classic 60's style motel that has been recently upgraded and refreshed with new furniture and even some art work above the comfy beds. Room interiors are modern and very, very, clean.

It's a bit out of town but within walking distance to most theatres. Fast food, mini-marts, and modest restaurants are nearby. The rooms include a small fridge and microwave, but no dishes or coffee-makers.

If, like me, you are carless in Toronto and taking the bus ...this can work well. No need to pay more for a fancy B and B or hotel if you've already blown the budget on tickets. Stay here instead, and splurge on a taxi or two if need be.

Pro tip: best to call the motel directly and book directly. They are actual humans who are polite and will do their best to make you feel welcome.

The motel looks tired form the outside, but the comfort and freshness of the rooms comes as a surprise. Did I mention, it is very, very clean?
