We had a wonderful time! The walk down to the raft was very, very steep and very, very treacherous. Just be warned! The rafting adventure was amazing. Our guide Callum was great - he tailored our experience to our group and took us through the areas with the biggest splashes. We were able to swim for a bit, jump off a cliff, ride on the front of the tube through rapids (aptly named "Disneyland") and I even got to take the guides' spot in the back of the raft and steer us through some gentle rapids. It was interesting, exciting and fun - enough rapids to keep you busy and stoked, but enough "downtime" to enjoy the views and anticipate more! Callum was awesome - very knowledgeable and entertained us with stories of home, and shared stories of his training days and other excursions. I would recommend this experience 100%!
Also - one suggestion - wear your own wetsuit if you have one, especially with good wet shoes as you have to walk down that hill in the ones they give you. (Which are OK but adds to the level of difficulty if they don't fit properly!)
They will offer you a wind-breaker/wet jacket. Take it!!!!!! It cuts the wind/cold as the water is freezing and even a bit of wind will freeze you! I'm so glad I had the jacket on!
(Just be sure you're prepared for a trek down that canyon - trust me, our first guide Josh said that it was a "class 5 foot trail" and he was NOT joking!!!)

We had an incredible time with Tunnel 49 on the river! The guides, Josh and Spencer, were knowledgeable, fun, and made safety a top priority without taking away from the adventure. The entire trip was well-organized from start to finish, and the scenery was absolutely stunning. Highly recommend and will definitely be back next season!

We came in from out of town on a long weekend and hardly planned our trip to Fernie. We phoned Tunnel 49 after it was recommended to us. Mark was absolutely hospitable to us from the moment he answered the phone! It was a holiday Monday, but he made himself incredibly available to us. We were hesitant with which watercraft to select but he was patient and informative as we made our decision.
We ended up on the GIANT 16ft paddle board. Highly recommend! Knowing that we were from out of town and had only one vehicle, Mark even comped the price of the shuttle for us.
We highly recommend Mark and Tunnel49. What a delightful experience in Fernie- it made our trip. An absolutely wonderful local business.

Our guide struck the perfect balance of safety and fun. The river we went down was perfect for my 8 year old son - mostly calm, some small exciting rapids, and the chance to get dunk into the water! The equipment was in excellent condition, and the attention to detail (helmets, life jackets, safety briefings) gave us total peace of mind.

We learned so much along the way and the scenery was simply breathtaking. Highly recommend.

We had such a great time rafting with Tunnel 49! Our kids (8 and 10) absolutely loved it. Our youngest was pretty hesitant about the cliff jump, but all of the guides rallied around her with so much patience and kindness. Callum, our guide, in particular was amazing...he told her, “You can’t be brave without being scared, and you were so brave.” She eventually made the jump, and it was such a proud moment for her (and for us!). That simple encouragement really stuck with her and made the experience unforgettable. Thank you, Callum and the whole Tunnel 49 team, for making our trip back home to the Kootenays so special.
