Blain of West Coast Edge Adventures is #1. We had an adventure and have great memories - thanks to Blain - and many pictures! Experience off road touring safely but with "an edge" with Blain who has over 20 years' experience. Explored the back country logging roads and sites. Spent 4 hours exploring, hiking, discussing, learning, berry picking and could have gone swimming. Learned back country safety. Through the forest, then way up to the peak of the mountain and beyond. We (2 adults and 2 kids) stayed three days with Patricia and Blain at the Henderson Lake. If you are looking for some amazing back country experience in the middle of nowhere > this is the place to be!! The location is very very special. Already getting there in a 4x4 is a great and fun experience. Blain is an amazing guide, extremely experienced, knowledgable and very entertaining with lots of interesting and funny stories to tell. He loves the country side and enjoys so much sharing his passion. It was just great sitting at the shore of the lake and enjoying the view of the surroundings. But then there is also so much fun stuff to do: kayaking, walking tours, swimming, boat trips, playing pool, bear watching tours in the evening, etc. We actually did see bears, elks, eagles and other wildlife from very close. The hospitality of Patricia and Blain was just exceptional! In the evening after a great BBQ with fresh salmon and meat we were watching shooting stars at the bonfire having S’Mores. Being very lucky with the weather, this stay was one of our absolute highlights on Vancouver Island and a great addition to the busier beaches/activities in Tofino and the hiking around Sooke. Being remote is potentially tricky with kids, but our kids (7y & 11y) loved every minute of our stay.

So spectacular jeep tour today!!!!! Thanks a lot for this wonderful drive across the awesome Nahmint area through the forest, the mountains and deep into the lakes!! We learnt a lot and our eyes are full of lovely pictures!! Do not cross Port Alberni without stopping at West Edge adventure!!!

Our family had an amazing experience with Blain yesterday on the Ucluelet Tour, Pacific Rim Expedition to Barkley Sound Viewpoint. Blain is extremely knowledgeable and it is a pleasure to spend several hours hearing the local history and information on the region. I highly recommend this tour.

When I had the opportunity to head out with Blain and Trish to their place on Henderson Lake, I jumped all over it. The knowledge of the back country these folks have is amazing, with all the amazing spots one would never see , plus the history lessons of the First Nations of the area rounds out the tour. When you get to the "Cabin" if you jaw doesn't hit the floor at the scenery then you might not be able to see properly. The place is simply breathtaking with clear lakes and rivers, beautiful mountain peaks.... AND THE FOOD!!! My mouth is watering as I relive the meals in my mind.

If you want the ultimate getaway, free from distractions (but they have wifi if you want the distraction) the make a reservation with these two. You will not be disappointed. I will stake my professional reputation on it!

We had a fab 3 hour trip into the wilderness with Blain. As well as spectacular views and scenery (although it was somewhat cloudy on the morning of our trip) it was great to hear about life in Port Alberni and the surrounding mountains from someone who has lived there all their life - it gave us real insight to the locality. It was fun exploring the forest roads and getting to appreciate the remoteness and silence of the mountains a short drive away from civilisation.

I'd definitely recommend the tour and hopefully I'll back again one day!

Really friendly, accommodating owner who grew up in the area and is extremely passionate about the countryside. A great activity for Port Alberni - would recommend for something to do if you're in the area/town. I took his tour in 2021, and Covid unfortunately changed many things. The company got rid of all of their ATVs and bought a jeep. The tour I took was in the owner's vehicle where he climbs very, very slowly all the way up a mountain on an old logging road for a beautiful view, followed by descending very, very slowly all the way to the bottom for a view of a lake and beautiful big trees before returning to town. The logging road was chosen based on our starting point, where he was very accommodating. I personally didn't find it to be an 'adventure' ride vs what it may have been with ATV vehicles, which I would have *loved*, and the prices seemed to be the same so the value will be a personal choice. It's a beautiful area, a unique way to see an area you never otherwise would with a very friendly and knowledgeable guide.
